First of all, this is for Tanya who is planning a trip to the Natick Mall--that is where I went today. If you have never been there, it's HUGE. Go prepared. Look at the list of stores, and decide which ones you want to go to and figure out where they are located. Here's a link to their directory:

First stop Nordstroms for a bra fitting. My measurements matched the sales girl's. 38F (or 38DDD for American sizing). She brought me about 20 bras to try, but they all felt wrong...big in the band, and various issues with the cups. But the one bra that I liked the most was this : http://www.freshpair.com/Chant....._sku=i2822

So, I asked if they had it in a lower band size but a higher cup size. She brought one out and I tried it on and decided to buy it. It's an expensive experiment, but I'm used to bra shopping being trial and error for me. I also bought 3 pair of panties. I don't have much of a butt so I have issues with panties being baggy in the tush area. We'll see how these work.

Next stop was Calvin Klien: I tried on 2 pair of white jeans:

I couldn't find a link to the other pair, but they had these cute little angled flap pockets on the front hip area and flap pockets on the rear. I liked both pair, but had a lot of pocket show thru. To me, $80 is a lot of money--and for that much money, I expect them to be perfect.

We strolled thru Neiman Marcus and handled a cute little coverup that would have looked wonderful on my friend. I pulled the price tag and it was $595! It was a thin cotton whisp of a garment. We started laughing and beelined it out of there before we broke something!

BR, white denim again, no luck. I seem to be inbetween sizes there. The bottom half of the pant leg was too wide. It looked silly with such a narrow knee opening.

AT, again tried on white denim again no luck. Pocket show thru, and inbetween size 8 and 10. (I had this inbetween size problem when I went from a 12 to a 10 a few years ago...I think it takes my body a while to compress.) I checked out that green blouse, and decided it was too sheer. I tried on this skirt and think I'm going to order it. I loved the way it fit, I'm nervous about white though.

I also tried on this cardi, and it was a nice fit...might buy it to go w/the skirt if I end up getting it. The green sweater is the exact same green in the border stitching.

Then we hit ATL...no luck with the white jeans once again. They didn't have an 8 in the style I preferred. I tried a variety of different styles and sizes and nothing was working. I had more issues with pocket show thru too. I did score a pair of Marisa flares that have white stitching around the waist and pockets for $16.

Then we had just enough time to grab a salad @ California Pizza and make it back home in time to pick up the kids at school.

It was a very successful day--I had alot of fun and it was great being able to try on alot of things that I've been eying online. I feel that I was a much more productive shopper from all that I've learned here. And I absolutely LOVE Nordstrom, their layout is so much nicer than Macy's (which is the anchor store at my local lame-o mall).

I am so glad that you had fun Nicole and that you found a nice bra. Thanks for the mall info, I'll probably do my trip on th weekend of 24-25th.
I am sorry that the white jeans did not work out, but I'm sure you'll find a nice pair.
In worse case scenario, if you find one you like (no pockets show trough etc) but you're between the sizes, maybe your mom could take them in for you.
Let us know what you decide about the AT stuff.

That AT skirt is gorgeous!

The chantelle bra: good choice. I tried that one on myself the other day, and nearly bought it too. It was very comfy!!

The CK jeans: 9-inch rise - my ideal!!! But you didn't like them, huh?

Of all the jeans I tried on, they were my favorite, Shiny. I almost bought them, but couldn't get past the pocket show thru. I actually preferred the second pair (that I couldn't find a photo of). They were more of a trouser style. I don't think you'd like those as much because of the back flap pocket.

Hmm Nicole have you considered sewing the pockets shut and cutting off the excess material if everything else is perfect?
I am going to do that ( in addition to hemming) to my cream bootcut jeans once I get to the tailor since the front pockets show trough as well.

I love that cardigan, Nicole, and have seen it in person. I think it would be really nice on you. Love the skirt! Pictures, pictures!

Tanya, my friend and I discussed the possiblity of removing the pocket lining and stitching the pocket shut. I have done that to pants in the past. But I have an issue with spending $80 on a pair of pants and then having to alter it. IMO, someone dropped the ball by allowing the pocket lining fabric to show thru.

It's still early enough in this chilly New England season to hold off for a different pair of white jeans...I don't feel I've exhausted my options to settle.

What is showing through your white jeans, Nicole? I do not have this problem with white jeans (white pants are a different story). Have you tried pulling the pockets out a little? Try levis too.

Let us know how your Chantelle bra fits and wears and I’m glad you had successful day. I see that you are getting braver about introducing colours into your wardrobe. Bravo! You look super in colour. Go for it.

I can see the outline of the pocket liner thru the denim. Maybe I was looking too hard for it? I don't do well with Levis (though I admit I have not tried them in years). In the past, they've always fit too tightly in the waist for me.

I figure I'll wear my new bra a few times and decide if it's one I want to duplicate. All too often, a bra feels comfortable for the first hour, then I find that my arms rub against the underwire, or the edges are itchy, or the sides dig into my breast tissue, or any number of problems that arise.
