Oh oops! Just saw you are going to return. I think that’s wise — there are enough light-colored boots and sneakers out there now that I think you’ll find something you love that is lower maintenance.

Sounds like you're making the right call, Lisa. I'm kind of keeping my eye open for some kind of taupe/beige combat type boot to wear with white/cream jeans I don't yet own for a lifestyle I don't really have at the moment! I also think those cognac Olukai sneakers would work great for a cream ensemble -- the cream soles tying to the cream in the outfit and the cognac leather bookending your hair....

Lisa, I just saw these on the DSW site (clicked through on a birthday promo email and saw these scrolling through).

They look very similar but the material looks to be smooth leather which may be easier to maintain.

Those are gorgeous, Lisa, but I totally get your thinking process and reasons for returning! Sort of like me and white denim :). Do you have booties or high-top sneakers that bookend your hair? Maybe those would work with your joggers and more casual pants, potentially.

Thanks Janet - those are cute- but of course not available in Canada - ugh.

I can always make another DSW purchase for you, LOL! We will have to factor in those eye-popping shipping costs again.

Thanks but it’s not financially worth while .

If you’re interested in trying Janet’s find and don’t mind Amazon …

Queen of Shades of White Footwear chiming in

LOVE the cream boots!

Most of my footwear is a shade of white, and I walk almost everywhere (no driving) - with doggies in tow - in a four season climate! Lots of rain. My shoes do not get that dirty when they are a robust leather. Easy to clean. But suede is a disaster, and avoid puddles.

I wear my shades of white shoes with anything because of instant bookending with light hair and white pearls. That helps pull things together very easily.

Back to you and your style, Lisa P. I think you are pulling together a cream and oatmeal capsule for Fall and Winter? Beautiful! You will need a light neutral boot for the tonal look. But that needn't be cream or white. Maybe something more like a taupe, toffee, sand, mushroom, or light snakeskin. Maybe these inspiration pics will help with footwear colours:

Like Lisa, I’m working on my cream/oatmeal capsule and having difficulty picking winter shoes. Thanks for the suggestions, Angie.

Kerry ! Thanks for this link - and the price is right too ! I’ve ordered them and we’ll see what they are like .

Angie - I agree about other shades being workable for the capsule I’m trying to put together . I still really love the style of the Simon’s boots I ordered and showed in these photos and also the takes myself into keeping them today . There is something about the brushed surface ( not suede but closer to nubuck) that I worry will be too delicate for my climate . Anyways - I do have new cognac sneakers put away for fall , and new olive ones as well ( finally it’s a season for my colours again ! ) so I’m not desperate . I’m ordering your cashmere NAS scarf in cream too - although I missed the sale and it’s back up to reg price . Thanks for the inspiration pics - very nice

Angie - where is that third photo from ?

Irina -Simons has a pair of oatmeal sneakers that are new for fall that look really nice . I’m tempted but DO NOT need more sneakers at this point .

Thanks, Lisa, I will check it, never ordered anything from Simons before.
I bought a pair of cream leather loafers for fall. I lamented to my DH my “ability “ to scuff any shoes once I put them on. He said that the way I walk, I should I buy shoes with metal toe caps! What a joker!
I ordered a cream shoe polish from Amazon instead

Glad it was helpful, Irina!

Lisa P, you are right about Nubuck being harder to clean. That's why I don't gave cream Timberlands.

The site is called Madeleine:

Irina i'm the same... I once had a pair of bright white Jil Sander shoes and they were constantly marked couldnt clean it off or polish over it either. I did get them redyed white once but about a week later they were back to the same colour. I think I walk a bit funny too.

Good idea to return, I think. You've definitely had issues in the past with light footwear, and I'd think they'd be limited- unless you have dry winters.
I know Angie lives in her white shoes all year- but she's has her superpower, and light hair!

So I just received these Timberlands . Really nice , but no side zipper ! Not sure if that’s a deal breaker or not . 30% less expensive than the Simon’s boots - so easier to stomach the idea of a little dirt here and there .

Lisa, you should keep the boot that you like the most - both look nice on your foot and are a great colour. My friend's 16 year old daughter has sworn to me that CREP products (which includes an Ultimate Scuff Eraser for suede and nubuck) actually work. This is a teen that is obsessed with keeping her sneakers in immaculate condition, she uses the spray on protector to keep her sneakers pristine.

What is Simon's?

The Timberlands look super cute! LOVE!

I don't think you'll wear them without a zipper though. You have mentioned that a few times as a deal breaker over the years, so that's my concern. The fabric is hard to clean too - at least it is in my rainy weather! Sounds like you might have a gadget you can use, and you do not commute on foot like I do. That will help.

like the timbs, but didn't you express some reservation about white soles on other nas threads? what makes this different?

also, linking threads, the pearl-bedecked jeans can fit into your "cream" capsule or can use your cream capsule.

Bj1111 - you’re totally right . White soles are problematic in the winter in my part of the country . But at this ( low ish ) price , I wouldn’t feel bad about them being fall - only shoes . I don’t know though - I still haven’t decided .

Angie - Simon’s is a Dept store of sorts in Eastern Canada . I’ve been having lots of good luck with their online services this year . Some brand names and lots of private label too .
