My clothes are back from the new tailor/seamstress!

I haven't tried anything on yet but will do so tomorrow and with luck will have my sister here to take photos the day after that.

I posted about this adventure in finding a tailor here.

I didn't get an itemized bill, just a total, but here's what I had done:

1 Dress: ruched bodice taken in
2 pairs dress pants: both taken in in the hip region because they were too baggy
2 button-down woven shirts: nipped in at the sides because they were too wide
1 Jacket: nipped in at the sides
1 pair jeans: waist taken in

7 items (and none of the alterations were as simple as a hem), total cost: $125. I thought that was quite reasonable, but I don't have a ton of experience with tailors. Does that seem like a decent price to you?

Oh, best of luck April. I hope everything is tailored to perfection.!!!

I think a tailor is like the dry cleaners...just feel like they hold your clothes for ransom, until you bail them out!!

I don't have any experience other than having jeans/pants hemmed - which cost me $25 at one place, so $125 for all of that sounds like a pretty good deal! The true test will be seeing how the items turned out. Looking forward to seeing the pics!

I am with Shana, sounds like a great deal to me. My usual jeans tailoring cots me $30 for hemming with original hem +$20 to take in the waist if needed - yours is so much better.

That sounds like a great price, April. Just the pants would have set me back more than half that amount.

I agree with the others, that sounds like a perfectly reasonable price. I just dropped off 3 dresses to be taken in in the top, a pair of jeans that needs to be hemmed, and another pair that needs to be taken in in the waist/seat, and the total bill was $115, which was about what I was expecting.

Hopefully everything turned out beautifully for you!

Taylor, ha -- that is so true.

Elpgal, Tanya, and Shana -- wow, I am spoiled then, since my dry cleaner only charges $10 to hem a pair of pants. I knew that was a great price, I just can't always rely on them when it's more complicated than a hem.

SD -- sounds like you, along with Taylor and me and many others here, also find that you have to tailor nearly everything? And do you have someone you can trust to do a good job?

Great prices. I usually spend $22 for an original hem on pants.
