My boyfriend's back (from the tailor) and you're gonna be in trouble

...because I need help with rolling and with shoes!

The sweater is just what I was wearing today and isn't part of my questions, which are: which shoes and how much roll?

1. Seasonal confusion: suede wedge booties with scrunched-down socks to fill in the flower pot. Then bare skin. Too weird?

2 & 3. My Asics Onitsuka Tigers. I would wear these with some white on top.

4. My Cole Haan Sabrina slipper flats/loafers.

5 & 6 & 7/ My Cole Haan regular loafers with a fun twist. They look bright white but are actually silvery gray with white "penny" strap -- but they're totally made from 3M, so look how cool they are in flash photography!

Now that song is stuck in my head! They are all fun looks and I think that is because they are a bit of a skinnier fit for BFs.

Yes, every pair of "real" boyfriends I tried made me feel like I was drowning in fabric and made me look like I was standing in a hole (standing in a hole in ill-fitting jeans) so I cheated. These are just tattered jeans I found in the consignment shop and had hemmed.

This is how I like my boyfriends...skinny! I like all these versions, but admit to really liking the one with the booties. It could be the bookending that is drawing me, or it could be the still cold and snowy weather. I have a tough time with rolled boyfriends and booties...you, however, can really pull it off!

I like them all. In #1, I think I would wear a lower sock so that it didn't show at all. Love that sweater too, the zipper detail is great

You look awesome and the jeans and all the shoes are killer!

I'm the odd man out on this, I suppose, but personally I prefer cuffing lower when wearing heeled booties. No skin showing. Cuff just barely overlapping where bootie meets skin. I actually think it is more leg-lengthening, especially with dark footwear.

Whereas with loafers and your tigers and pumps and other shoes, then yeah you want to roll it high, like you have done here. Perfection.

It's just with the (non-cutout, heavier, winter, darker) booties, my eye thinks longer cuff works better. I often don't even cuff and leave the BF's full length (mine are way baggier than yours). Or just cuff it enough to show off the bootie, but no skin. It's not even the seasonally confused/practical aspect. I actually think it gives a longer leg look. I have played around with it a lot. Then again, maybe I'm just sensitive to wearing lower rises than I normally do? So I'm needing the jean leg to go longer.

*also going to add that raw denim is HUGE trend around Boston crowd lately, and I've probably been influenced by it. I've been meaning to start a thread on that. It's super trendy in some crowds here to wear raw denim jeans that are cuffed long (no skin showing) and showing the selvedge. The trick apparently is to cuff long so there's some drapey scrunch, so you get cool whiskering as the jeans age. Anyway, just a side note to why my own particular eye may be preferring what it's preferring lately. I have thought too overly much about "proper" cuff width for my height/proportions. I'm going to suggest you might try cuffing yours just a tiny bit more narrow - may better suit your delicate ankles!

Thanks for that level of detail, Shiny -- exactly the kind of specific input that I find really helpful. I had originally asked the tailor to taper these to 12" at the cuff, but when I picked them up she told me that that would have made them taper too rapidly from the knee, so instead she tapered to 14" at the cuff to keep the proportions right. Probably good, since 12" might have made them impossible to roll at all.

I'll try pegging them a bit more next time.

So now I have "relaxed skinnies." So funny, since these started as some sort of super-long bootcuts.
