I have seen a lot of French women wear nude hose this spring and it is not frumpy at all. I even bought a pair, but it is suddenly too warm for hose.

Here in the "cool" Bay Area, perfectly-matched-nude-hose has never been "out." Women wear hose to work, church, weddings, etc. I work in the financial industry & we are not even ALLOWED to have bare legs "hey, I don't make the rules."

LOL @ Vildy I am guilty of copying Kate Middleton's blue Issa engagement dress, nude hose & black pumps for my city hall daytime wedding last year

I'm thrilled that nude hose are back! I even feel that I can get by with a bit shorter skirts if wearing nude stockings.

Rita, 99.9% if the women in Japan wear hose - granted, it's not all nude - but a lot of it is. It's extremely hard finding a frumpy lady in Japan

Yup. Nude hose never went out of style in Europe. It's true that it's not always easy to find a great skin tone match, though.

Claire, OF COURSE you can leave off the hose in Phoenix!!!

Vildy, you crack me up.

Just like so many fashion items, I've seen them come and go and come back again. Living in Texas, it is a blessing to not feel I need hose every time I put on a dress, but I do find at 55 that it is hard to pull of a polished look when I need to and be bare legged. Will be happy to see more of them on people. Funny with the fishnets, too... wore those in junior high, in all colors of the rainbow... wouldn't have been caught dead in those for many years, and then they were back again!

I am happy I did not commit a fashion crime wearing nude hose in Paris this spring: it was the only way I could wear dress there as I would not survive a full day of walking sans socks: my feet are too sensitive.
In our Canadian climate we just cannot go bare legged for 7-8 months of the yearand opaques and dark textured tights are not always right look to wear with a certain dress or skirt. I only wish I could find hose with does not break the bank but comfortable on top: I hate when waistband digs into my body!

I can't believe that I forgot to include that as an item that I am out of sync with! I know that conventional fashion says no nude hose but I always wear them with dresses that are not just sundresses.

I love nude-toned micro-fishnets, for how they "even out" my lily-white, 50-something legs with veins, scars, etc., and for how they keep me warm in air-conditioned settings. It is refreshing that our options keep expanding....for me, the key points are always: 1. Is it comfortable (in this case, in terms of temperature), 2. Is it age-appropriate? 3. Is it well suited to the situation/occasion? and 4. Is it flattering? If it's "yes" on all counts, go for it!

I always found it on the strange side of interesting the conviction some felt on the issue of nude hose. I wondered why it was such a deal. I think I even wore a pair a few years ago for an evening event when opaque would not have worked with my dress and it was -20C outside. Not one person ridiculed me and it was a fashionable group of accountants (*smile* - no that is not an oxymoron LOL)

Live and let live. I'm glad that those who love the nudes can wear them and those who don't can leave them off.

Hear, hear!-)
(I was very happy to have on nude hose at my niece's garden party last month, they provided extra warmth and I felt extra stylish sporting them with my new cobalt pumps;-

Color is everything when it comes to nude hose and this will make or break the entire look. I'm just happy that there are those options that make leg play more fun, like fishnets and tights. Yet, there's still a place for all of these looks, including nude hose done well.

That is true Vicki, the gauge of the nylons also appears much finer now. The american tan tights my Mum used to wear in the 80's gave a sandpaper like texture to her legs.
