Black footwear

Some are older (2014 for the patent tuxedo pumps) and some new this year (loafers and NOBULL sneakers) but all pull their weight in my closet. They cut across all categories with the exception of summer sandals. The combat boots have been MVP’s since I got them three years ago and are showing their age. I’m researching/shopping for a replacement - thus my earlier thread asking about Blundstones. I’m keeping an eye open for dressier black tall boots with a low heel, but exercising PPP since it isn’t an urgent need.

What is your black footwear story? Do you duplicate? What’s on your wish list?

I have basic black shoes, the full complement—flats, pumps, boots and probably sneakers hiding somewhere. But my combats are the only ones I wear with any regularity. The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced I think they’re office wear… it’s a thought (!)

I always have black footwear. It's practical, works with many of my bottoms -- especially in winter. Given how fussy my feet are, not many brands or styles work for me. Black is usually the most easily available colour.

My current black footwear:

Horrible but practical black winter boot. I think they're about 4 years old now. Want to replace with something a bit more stylish, but being PPP here.
Black patent Clark's loafer -- new this fall
Ecco Chase sneakers -- almost a decade old. They don't get a lot of wear anymore, but I haul them out for wet or icky conditions. These have cute colourful stripes on the tongue and were my favourites FOREVER. Also sentimental faves as I broke them in walking the streets of Paris on my 50th birthday.
Blundstone chisel toe boots. About 4 years old, I think. Worn as my main office footwear during the worst of my foot challenges. Didn't see much action in year 1 of pandemic, but have been in rotation quite a bit this fall.
Birks -- just worn around home -- especially in summer for running out to the yard. Also abour 4 years old.

My wishlist?
In addition to the dressier winter boot mentioned above, I wouldn't mind finding a somewhat refined (and not winter-lined) black boot that I could wear casually, but also with dressier pants and skirts when needed. I had always thought laceups because they tend to be healthiest for the feet, but I just realized another option could be staring me in the face.

I might want to add a pair of chunky black sandals this summer

Possibly another black Ecco sneaker to update the decades old Chase.

I've got an expensive wardrobe year ahead, so I'll have to move quite strategically on the footwear additions. This wish list might have to span two or three years....

I used to wear black footwear nearly exclusively because it seemed "practical."

Now, I attempt to buy other neutrals/ colours in favour of black but still I wear black and find it extremely useful, especially in winter. You can see that from the Finds -- 3 pairs of booties for various situations/ weather conditions, 2 pair of tall boots, and one pump. No sandals or sneakers (my summer footwear).
