Angie’s recent ensemble idea brought my vintage midi skirt to mind because it is similar to the idea of the one for the ensemble. I treasure this skirt, which belonged to a very dear aunt. She was an elegant lady with no children of her own, but she took me and my siblings shopping for new school clothes at the end of every summer as a special trip for us and a favor to my mother. Even though I haven’t worn this skirt since this photo, more than ten years ago, I couldn’t bear to part with it. Now I’ll have to get it out of storage and try to bring it up to date according to the ensemble idea. Thank you, Angie! I am so happy I still have this skirt and new ideas what to do with it.

At the time I wore a faux-crossover black top, a cream bouclé jacket, and almond toed pumps. The skirt is two layers of a very fine sunburst pleat over a liner. It was the first time in my life I had any money to spend on clothes and I agonised trying to put an outfit together for that wedding. I am holding a fleece blanket muff style—they were passed out to the ladies to keep us warm in the gusty winds on top of the chapel where the wedding took place. Happy times
