My Amsterdam finds - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all! We're having an absolute blast in Amsterdam, and we leave tomorrow for our second impromptu destination -- Bruges, Belgium!

I did do a little shopping and found some fun things that are coming home with me. Besides the birthday present vintage sunglasses!

1-2 White jacket by Nikkie Plessen. I fell in love but left it behind for a couple of hours to see if it stayed on my mind. It did. Hubs and I went back for it.

2 Crochet top by ba&sh at Buise (in Oud Zuid, thanks, Angie!!!). Again, I took a break, went for ice cream, wandered around, and went back for it.

I also got an inexpensive cute slouchy graphic tee with a sort of abstract bird print on it (black on grey), and an ultra-soft cornflower blue leather clutch on a ridiculous sale. (oh, and all of that did not add up to the cost of the Mackage coat from NAS that's being returned). So that's my Amsterdam birthday shopping.

YAY to Amsterdam bday shopping! Congrats, excellent finds. I personally love getting a few special items while on vacation because every time you put them on you will be reminded of that trip.

Thanks! The jacket was available in black too, but the white looked so much better. I'm always a little concerned about "lab coat" vibe in a longer white jacket, but none of that in sight with this style! Lots of cool designs with a bit of rock'n'roll vibe at Nikkie, in a reasonable price range. She is working on getting distribution in the states.

Janet, you look jaw-droppingly BEAUTIFUL in that white jacket! Wow! Travel finds like these need to be snapped up--it's hard (OK I say impossible) to find such items at home, and you have the added benefit of happy holiday memories each time you wear them. Both great finds. So glad you purchased.

Ooh, that crocheted top is lovely. Great with the cuffed jeans, but I can imagine it looking beautiful in different ways with other bottoms, too. Such fun to bring home souvenirs you can wear at home!

I have a major thing for crochet and lace details, so it's obvious that i'm drawn to the crochet top... to the extent that my heart says 'i need that NOW'!!!

Kudos to the hubby...you're lucky! I know how awesome it feels to have a hubby who'd come along and actually 'help' you shop, because mine does and it's the coolest thing ever!

Elizabeth P, ever since making some impulsive travel purchases years ago that just didn't work much for me at home, I've become more cautious -- hence, my walk-away strategy. It seems to be working for my most recent travel buys. I feel very good about these. The top was a bigger question mark than the jacket, because it's a bit more out of my usual style. But I think it will be really fun with flared denim jeans, or even a pencil skirt. It is so nicely made and the detail is great. It is not as delicate as it looks, which is good too.

Elisabeth, hubs and I had a couple of afternoons where we separated for a few hours -- I have a way higher tolerance for a lot of walking than he does! He does like shopping with me and giving feedback though. However, I must confess that when I went back to pick up the white jacket, he hung out at the Tesla showroom across the street.
