To update I ordered 3 styles from the Gap, none are wonders, here are my takes:
- I ordered the mid rise 90s loose jeans in my usual 32 (14) in two washes. They fit somewhat differently, but both closer to a high rise on me, and not slouchy! My Gap girlfriends in the same size sit lower. I won’t try sizing up because the legs are also not as wide as hoped, and too short to my eye. I could see the cut wasn’t right in some of the stock photos but other colours look good (the plum and black) so I took my chances the washes I liked (brown and one of the faded blues) would work. Based on the photos and two different fits I got, I’m thinking these are all over the place. I give up but suggest others order multiple sizes/washes if interested.
- I tried the mid rise 90s carpenter jeans in medium indigo. I like the more subtle styling vs. the carpenter jeans my kids are wearing. Although they sit high the leg is the right width and length. But the pocket cut is weird on my hips (one reviewer mentions same, but i do have hip dips and it’s not awful, just not quite right).
- I also tried the wide stride jeans - love the leg which is not quite as dramatic on me - perhaps due to zero waist definition, lol! They are ok, hold my tummy in nicely, but a bit wedgie in back and make me look like a thick block with zero waist or hip curve.
Anyway, I still have my gorgeous docs, and hopefully time to figure out my version of this when motivation/inspiration strike again.
