My 2024 Goals + Word & Colour

Following on from my 2023 Recap...

Here are My 2024 Goals:
A) ~ Track wears/ upload my wardrobe to Finds (I'm hoping I'll be more likely to achieve this goal if I make it more flexible lol) - maybe via my daily budget spreadsheet...
B) ~ Transition to more 'burnished' shades of gold (like antique brass & ancient bronzed metals, with verdigris and patina effects) for casualwear - shiny bright gold feels a little 'much' for my more casual everyday wear, so hopefully I can still achieve my 2023 'add more shine & texture' goals this way?
C) ~ Continue working on my alterations pile, but with more 'temporary' fixes (any tips on taking in waistbands and hems would be greatly appreciated! I'm thinking maybe waist clamps, or buttons on elastic inserts? See my 2023 Review).

And now, My 2024 Word & Colour:
D) Relaxed Plum
Now that I have capsules in chocolate brown, teal blue, tomato orange, saffron yellow & mossy green, if I have that same level of luck in finding the right shades of purple this year, I think I'll finally be set! So I'll consider buying if I see something in a deep & warm enough plum shade in one of my key silhouettes (3/4 sleeved boatneck tops or crop tops & maxi skirts / tunics or long toppers over trousers). Also have a few HEWIs in chocolate brown pending.

There we have it! I think 3 goals (plus my colour hunt) is plenty - hopefully this will help me to stay on track this year. No need to reinvent the wheel in 2024 - just hoping to keep the ship steered onto the right course for now!

Oooh, I love the idea of burnished shades of gold like antique brass and bronze tones, for you. Those will be so harmonious with your personal colouring and your palette. I'll bet Brooklyn will offer some inspo, and Suntiger, too. Also Ket.

Also, I love plum! It's one of those colours that seems to look great on several different "seasons." It's probably officially an autumn tone but it is terrific on me also, at least in some versions. Can't wait to see your Find -- new stuff or otherwise!

Plum sounds delicious and will look great with your other colour capsules. I feel you on the alterations. Just put a couple of things in a pile that could use the whole ‘try on with shoes and a top’ thing to determine where the hems should fall. I do find myself a bit lost with the pant lengths lately.

No doubt - I'm lucky to have some fabulous YLFers for inspiration here! I do have some nice brass drop earrings, so hopefully I can find an interestingly burnished necklace &/ or rings next.

Yes I think plum is one of those 'universal' colours (like teal), but the devil is in the details! I believe Deep Autumn can 'borrow' from the Deep Winter palette, so long as it's not too stark (avoiding the coolest tones).

Big yay to adding plum- especially good with browns, burgundy, cinnamon, and olive!
Definitely worth it to put everything in Finds. I even check mine when I shop, so I remember what I already have.

Thanks, hopefully I can get the temporary alterations to stick! I believe @suntiger mentioned something about waist cinchers a while ago (elastic with clips on either end), so will see if I can DIY something similar...

Purple should be a lot more available - I saw more of it in 2023 already! - so hopefully you can embellish your purple capsule just how you want to.

ooo! You had me at burnished metal I love burnished metals, especially bronze, gold, and brass. I use a mix of golds, but agree very bright, shiny gold can be visible for everyday wear -- especially if going causal.

I can't wait to see your purples and plums! Maybe this will be the year of dark autumn goodness.

Zaeobi, parts of Europe are full of lilac, lavenders, orchid, and deep '80s purple. Not so much eggplant. Lots of remixing of earth tones with these purples.

Haven't had clients try those waistband gadgets yet. They look promising!

@Angie I see - hope springs eternal! Even if I can't find it at retail this year, I've been evaluating my closet & have found a few items in plum/ reddish purple to last me for now

Sounds like a beautiful, cohesive plan for 2024! I love plum too (would you consider it the same as eggplant, or perhaps not quite so dark and saturated?), but it's hard to find. Good luck with the hunt this year!

Plum sounds excellent and relaxed even better! Sounds like you have a good sense of where you are headed and what you need to get there. I really like the idea of burnished metals and verdigris for you...subtle shine. Looking forward to seeing what develops!

I'm hoping to find plum & burnished metals but I already have some items in both categories - so if I don't have any luck this year, I'll try to shop my closet and & remix it in new ways.

One thing YLF has taught me is that people often have many different words for the same (or similar) colours

Here's an example of two purple tops from my wardrobe - I'm generally looking for something within this range. In my mind, the darker purple is more eggplant/ aubergine & the lighter one is plum. But of course, we all know actual plums can be much darker What would you call these shades?
