My 1st post-outfit advice - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all, I'm new here & really enjoying this site so far. You all seem so encouraging & I love Angie's style. Sorry in advance for this lengthy post...
I live in a beach town in Florida where it isn't really cold often. So, I have not invested in much warm clothing. It is actually cold this week & I'm trying to plan a date night outfit (dinner & movies). My outerwear (aside from hoodies & frumpy cardigans) consists of: a denim jacket, a velvet boyfriend blazer, a crochet sweater, & scarves. These are the options that I have come up with so far: my only dress with sleeves-a couple of different ways (is it okay with these slouchy boots?), dark denim with the velvet blazer, dark denim with the brown & aqua tunic with oxfords (unsure about these shoes but they are my only brown closed shoes), black jeans with blue top, and black jeans with coral sweater & boots. I just don't seem to know how to dress when it isn't summer! Also, I don't wear heels because my husband is 2 inches shorter than I am and I don't like feeling like Sasquatch next to him. Any advice with or without changes would be much appreciated

Dang, Rose -- this is your first WIW post? I'm impressed.

I love all combinations except #7, and that's more about the color mix, with the scarf sort of camouflaging itself against the colors of your top.

Otherwise, all thumbs up from me, with my top most favorites being #1, #2, and #3.

You look great! My favorite is #2. I also really like 7, but I would prefer it without the scarf since the pattern of the top is lovely and has enough interest on its own. Enjoy date night!

#1 gets my vote! The statement necklace has a slight edge on the scarf but both look cute. Go with the warmer option!

Rose, welcome!! I am a big fan of the dress with denim jacket for a casual date night -- it's a standard for me, too. And you look great in this. I also really like it with the scarf. The boots are just fine with it, I think.

It's tough to make out details of the denim and velvet look, but from what I can tell, it is great!

And the others look good as well.

I am chuckling at your comment about not knowing how to dress for the cold. I live in Canada and up here we regularly complain about not knowing how to dress for the heat. That's what is so great about YLF. We can compare notes and learn from each other!
