My in box is flooded every day with all of the summer sale stuff.

I don't need any more. I live in a cold climate (well, usually, this summer begs to differ).

My girls don't need anything, either. Given the way kids grow, I will wait until they do need something, then buy that size, even if costs a little more.

Any one else fending off temptation?

Oh yes! I caved and ordered shorts from Nordstrom the other day, but I really needed some and I couldn’t resist the sale price. I’m justifying the purchase because I shouldn’t have to buy any more for a few years.

Count me in. The problem with Summer clothes for adults is that it lasts a long time because it does not get the chance to be worn much.

I have a few summer purchases that I'm on the fence about for this reason. Our summer just really got started here so it's hard to realized that we really only have about a month and a half of good summer weather left. But...I also find it's hard to find good quality summer pieces that I love and the pieces I'm holding onto are just that. So I'm trying to be practical and wait until I can look at the NAS stuff to gauge if I can get more excited about fall/winter and let go of the summer. I've actually gotten really good and getting my girls wardrobe's set at the beginning of a season and then not adding anything else until the next season. I think it's because it's so easy to find them cute stuff that fits well.

Yeah, I'm trying to just delete emails before looking at them. Too much temptation and I really don't need anything. Fall will be here before I know it

I used unroll.me to throw all of my sales emails into one place where I don't see them unless I go to look for them, so my temptation is minimal these days. I did a big summer shopping effort a couple of months ago, so I'm set and am not tempted at all by any more summer items. In fact, I'm more tempted to do a closet edit because there are plenty of things from years past in my closet that I'm not feeling like wearing anymore, for some reason.

My larger temptation might be fall/winter stuff (I always like fall/winter clothes more than summer ones anyway!), and the NAS, but even the catalog didn't spark a huge amount of interest. Just as well, because I have plenty, and what I have doesn't seem a huge departure from what seems to be trending for the cooler months. So I am contentedly staying mostly away from shopping these days!

Oh, kids shopping in particular is way too easy! DS loves bright colours and cute graphics, so I'm constantly resisting temptation. His clothes are way more fun than mine.

I agree that the best way to keep yourself from shopping sales is to get all those emails into a separate place where you won't see them every day. Set up filters, use a secondary email account, try unroll.me -- there are lots of good options for keeping all that junk email out of sight. I wish it were so easy with my snail mail box.

Everyday there are more and more shopping emails to tempt. So far I have been real good at resisting. I don’t need a thing at this time and I have a lot on my plate at the moment so resisting has not been a real problem. We will see how long I last.

I’m more tempted by the personalized recommendation selections based upon past shopping from Amazon or Nordstrom etc. Once I’m successful at finding something I need to be very careful about how much to duplicate the genre and to not go overboard with stocking extra.

I’m saving for a big item to reward myself. I’ve been ok, but there is an item or two from nas that would be replacements that I might spring for. And if I find the right white jean/chino/cargo/short, might pounce.

I live walking distance to the largest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere, and that’s often where we do errands/groceries/meet for coffee etc so..... it’s temptation city. I’m holding off at the moment though.

Yes, I am resisting the urge to shop right now. I've been dealing with some medical issues and the medications are making me so fatigued, and they're making life generally miserable, and I've been shopping because I don't like the way I feel and shopping changes the way I feel

So yeah, I'm having to find ways to resist temptation. I wish you luck with your efforts

I recently unsubscribed to a bunch of email updates from retailers. I prefer a less cluttered inbox and I know how to find the websites if I NEED anything.

I walked past H&M on the way back from a meeting, and totally caved, went in, blew some cash because everything was SO CHEAP. But I bet I won’t really have time to wear everything enough before the weather cools off again!

I shop (and eat) when I’m stressed and feel like I need to treat myself. My parents are going through some major changes and health issues and I’m the only family living in the same state as they do that can help them - boots in the ground, as it were. So I’m both gaining weight and shopping for clothes to fit my changing size. Ugh.

I get rid of sales emails, but I have a few online sellers that I like that also consistently fit me, so the temptation is real.

Trying to distinguish a real wardrobe need is key. I really want a dress that makes me feel beautiful, but that’s not a real need.

I’m also “on the bench” with my consulting job for a couple of weeks, so I really need to watch the spending.

Part of life - everything isn’t meant to be easy.

I can't say I've been the best but I have at least been focused. I'm mostly investing in duplicates that are still available and I know I will wear a lot, but there have been a few "extras" too. Summer is my main season so it makes sense to shop a few end of season sales and such. My real weakness will be stopping myself from adding new fall/winter items. I have probably zero needs but always see pretty things.
