Must have list of boots

probably rambling here!! but just wondered if there was a must have list for boots anywhere? Or do others have a pair of boots they can't live without? Just curious? x

I have a pair of grey slouch suede boots, 2 pair of the steve madden maxximus boots and a pair of cut-out suede boots from Lori's in Chicago.....and last year I had no fashion boots! I feel I still need more.....

Right now I only have flat boots! Ankle black boots and OTK (that can be folded down though) black ones. Santa is bringing a chestnut colored pair. That is just the beginning of my collection. I'd love to add a gray pair (slouchy gray pair would be divine), a tan pair (spring) and would love a pair of tall Docs.... That's just the beginning, I'm afraid LOL.

I try to get neutrals I can wear with several things....once I get all the neutrals I want, I want a couple colorful ones! mine are taupe, grey and brown...

If I had to pick one pair of boots, it would be my low-heeled black mid-calf boots. They go over skinnies, under bootcuts, work with skirts, and match everything. I think I could survive with that pair alone.

Thankfully, I don't have to pick just one, because I am a bootophile.

Another bootophile here. If I had to, I'd say you need a minimum of two pairs:
- Dress boots. I have a classic pair of knee-high black Sudini boots with 2" heel.
- Casual flat boots. Something like the Frye Veronica.

If one only had two pairs, they'd most likely be in neutral colors, to go with most of your wardrobe.

That being said, I have way more than two pairs of boots Colorwise, I have:
- patent dark gray
- slate (khaki)
- blue
- dark cream
- black
- brown

And coming soon:
- white
- red

So no, I don't stick to a particular color palette. Although most of them are on the cool side in their respective color families.

I'm a black boot girl - different heights and heels - but black is my color. I do have one pair of slouchy cognacs, a pair of taupe booties, a pair of red cowboy boots, a pair of brown and gold cowboy boots, a pair of weathered taupe suede booties - OMG - I could keep going, but I'm not going to! I'm obviously part of the bootophile group!

I have two pairs, one black Vince Camuto flat (1" inch heel) cowboy-ish boot with wingtip detail, and one rich brown Franco Sarto flat riding boot. I have been trying to add a third boot all year, with no success. I tried in grey, chestnut, and now red, but I finally realized the slouchy and/or mid-calf boot is not a good look for me. I need either a tall boot or an ankle; the in-between height cuts me off like an inverted pair of capri pants. Yucko!

But I try to keep it to one color per boot, so since I have black I don't need a second of that.

Yes, I have a list of necessary boots, and all the ones I presently own are on it. In addition, many I don't yet have are on it, too.

I agree with the idea of atleast one dressier and one more causal pair. I have a pair of Frye Veronicas in brown and I wear them with almost everything I own. I did find that every now and then I was reaching for a dressier but comfortable black boot that wasn't in my wardrobe, and I found a pair to fill this hole. The ones I found were a slouchy black suede with a nice little tapered 2 in heel.

I have a few other pairs of boots that I wear here and there, but I think I could do without them.

With the ridiculous sale on 6pm now, I couldn't resist ordering the Frye Rorys in Sand. I'm expecting to wear these in the place of the black slouchy boots when the weather is warm enough for bare legs and boots.

I have three pairs and all different colors:
- black mid-calf slouch flat boots
- grey tall Franco Sarto boots with a slight slouch and 2" chunky heel
- tan tall Clarks boots with a chunky heel
I feel that whenmy boot collection is small I do not want to repeat the same color so i have more dress options.
I would definitely want to add to my collection but decided to leave a room for the next year. Right now I am trying to figure out which colors / styles I wish i have so i can really fill the gap next year.

Black knee-high Stellas--same as the grey ones, in black
Black Via Spiga knee-high heeled boots
Brown Via Spiga knee-high heeled boots
Black knee-high heeled boot, as yet unworn
Brown knee-high heeled boot, as yet unworn
Black knee-high heeled boot with faux fur trim at the top by Cri de Coeur
Black ankle Stellas, four inch heel (same as the knee high Stellas, but shorter!)
Brown Nine West ankle boots, four inch heel
Black Doc Martens, 8 eyelet (about 15 years old!)
Black patent Steve Madden knee high boots, 4 inch heel
J. Crew knee-high wellies, hunter green with polar bears and fleece lining, flat (!)
Banana Republic orange ankle rainboots, two inch heel

I counted and that's 14 pairs of boots (and not a flat boot among them, other than the wellies). I guess it's no wonder I have issues with closet storage space.

Una, glad to know I'm not alone! I was feeling excessive there for a minute.

I should have said if I could only keep one pair, the choice would be easy: my grey Stellas. There is a reason I have two pairs of them--in case the first ever get so old I can't wear them anymore I need a backup!

I think I was having a 'moment' last night! You know when you look in your wardrobe and think 'Do I really NEED all these......' ! I have a lot of cheap lowish quality stuff which I think now at the grand old age of 30 I need to start replacing with higher quality items which will last longer and probably look better. Glad I'm not the only bootaholic x

I LOVE boots although it partly has to do with the climate. They are just so practical for three quarters of the year. The boots I wear the absolute most are my black heeled Dansko knee-highs, which are 10 hour shoes. The boots I love the most are my studded black OTKs. The best boots in a pinch are my heeled all-weather suede knee-highs. I would love to have a pair of brown riding boots, but mine don't fit correctly. I also LOVE my slouchy cowboys. For mild weather my slouchy suede sand-colored boots are fab. But I have more pairs than what I mentioned here. These are just the stars

BJ, my best Stella deals have been on yoox.com. They carry a ton of her shoes and their prices get really low the longer the inventory sits. I duplicated a pair of green peep-toes--which I had purchased at full price for $600--for $60 on yoox! I also got two of my pairs of boots from there at about 80% off (I purchased the original pair at full price), and several pairs of pumps and sandals for between 60 and 80% off. I have also purchased two pairs of Stellas off of ebay (obviously you have to be careful with that) and one pair off of bluefly. I got one pair for 60% off at Barneys, just because it went on sale.

A lot of times I search her shoes on shopstyle.com to see who is running a sale. Their inventory is not always exhaustive, but it's an easy way to do a quick (if imperfect) check. I have also purchased two purses from Yoox, one at half price, and one at about 70% off. I have at least 17 pairs of Stellas plus three purses and I have only paid full price for three of those (and I ended up finding all three on sale eventually--I duplicated two and bought the third in a second color).

I am a boot fanatic as well. I could not pare down my list to save my soul. One thing I do not have yet are dress boots. I mean, I do have a pair but I don't like them much.

I have: black slouchy heeled ankle booties, black slouchy flat ankle booties (more distressed and casual), black OTK boots, gray flat mid calf boots, brown slouch boots that I just got today, black platform clog booties, and gray suede ankle booties.

And that isn't nearly enough! I need MORE! I would also like some wedge boots or booties (or both!) at some point. I saw a girl walking around in the cutest foldover wedge booties today, with a zip in the back that she wore unzipped. The heel looked a little too high for me but just loved them.
