Music Video Outfit HELP! - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all, Hope you are having a good day.

Allow me to start by saying that I am useless at fashion and any input would be invaluable!

I am shooting my first debut music video and I don't know what to wear!! I am so scared to get the vibe wrong for my music. I dress quite dark but my music is very hopeful. I am 30, female) and happy to upload a photo but I thought I would attach a link to my song instead, I have uploaded it Soundcloud for easiness and have a 20 second listen and tell me what vibe or outfit you see me wearing that would be amazing!! I will be with a live band and I play bass guitar.

Sorry if any of you don't like the song but if you could please let me know what you imagine me wearing i.e maybe an outfit, types of fabric, colours, shoes, dress, trousers... all would help!

I am happy to upload a picture of me but I am worried that what I am wearing in the picture would stop you from completely imagining me.
(Not a problem if you guys think it will help).

I am so nervous, excited and worried all at the same time. Fashion is something that I am very weak at and ANY input at all would be very much appreciated, valued and would honestly mean the world! My video shoot is on May the 15th.

I don’t know a lot about the music business but I think some of the questions are:
How do you want to be seen? Quirky (individualist)Pop, etc etc

Will you be singing directly into the camera the entire time or is there a story, etc.?

How exposed or covered up do you want to be?

Do you want viewers to see you as approachable,aspirational,......?

What would feel true to you, but an elevated version? Or tougher, or sweeter, or more however you want to project?

Who is your audience?

Don’t know if this is making it more complex or helpful but I am wishing you well.

It’s a great song. I think you should just be you with a little hair and makeup. What do you normally wear?

You have a beautiful voice. I think all great artists have a signature look. Whatever you choose should be something that feels comfortable for you because your look is basically part of your brand. The video is a business venture. What I imagine when I hear your music may be very different from what someone else imagines, which brings me to my biggest point. The best looks for musicians are either very dramatic, or they are neutral. You don’t need a dramatic look when your music has a broad appeal. You would be better off with something neutral, and let the music shine.

Thank you all for your time, kind words and replies.

Barbera, my band is called Lina and the Lions. I see myself as a strong, caring, energetic and hopeful person. Relentless and love all things good and pure. I want to be seen to promote that kinda message. Because I have a bass guitar around my neck, the moment that I wear black or I start to look "metal".

I don't mind being exposed but I have "Chunky" legs so shorts or short skirts are totally out if the question. If anyone can maybe help me with what colours they feel suited that could be a good start?

I like 1,4 and 5 myself.
I like the boots in 3, but I find your song doesn't suit heavy studded boots. I'm thinking something lighter. I think that is why I preferred the sleeveless tops.
