multiple earrings have an age limit?

I've recently read that older women shouldn't wear multiple earrings. I hate to use the term "older" here but can't come up with a better alternative. LOL I did a bit of research and see that Angie agrees with that. Ok... what if my ears are already pierced twice? Is it better to put tiny posts in those holes, or just let the empty hole scars show?

FWIW, I'm 38... not old, but not 25 anymore.

I am the same age and have multiple piercings (ears and nose). I haven;'t worn anything in them for years, and most of them have just closed up. Actually, I don't wear earrings at all anymore- they bother me. It's not like they are a huge scar- nobody would know unless they got very close to you.

I think there are far worse fashion sins to commit... at 38 wearing 2 pairs of earrings doesn't trip me up.

I have pierced ears - two holes in each lobe but I stopped wearing multiples at 40. That vibe doesn't enhance my style which has evolved into a polished look over the years.

I DO agree with Angie but as Queen Mum says, "there are far worse fashion sins to commit". So if you still like the look, rock it!

I think it depends on your style. I saw an extremely chic, edgy woman with closely cropped silver hair - she looked about 65 years old - with multiple piercings in one ear and it looked fabulous.

What a good question! It sounds like you are doing a thorough assessment of your style, which I am enjoying being a part of! I do notice people's empty holes but I think they look nicer than too much clutter on the ear. It seems like having multiple holes is a statement in itself so any earrings that go in them should be secondary to that statement and be very simple and on the small side.

I'm 40 and have many piercings. I will go against the grain here as I see no problem with it at all and have no plans on removing any of them any time soon. I've seen women my age and older who I felt wore them beautifully.

I have 8 in one ear, 5 in the other and a nostril piercing. I wear small CBRs (captured bead rings) in all but the "first" hole in each ear and a very plain ring (no bead) in my nose so it's fairly plain and uniform. I feel it is in keeping with my style, so they stay.
