They work to a degree for me. Nothing works perfectly for me (not even my progressive spectacles). I have strong myopia (i.e. need a low vision lens in one eye); plus astigmatism (thankfully, mild), plus now I need reading glasses as well.
What I have is a sort of combination. Both are progressive lenses, but one eye is corrected more for distance and one is corrected more for close up. It works for me as long as lighting is adequate. If lighting is poor, I need to add my drugstore readers.
It works well enough for distance that I can drive, watch movies, etc. That is because the stronger distance correction is in my dominant eye.
It also works fine for computer use, although like Jonesy I try to wear my glasses more often for that simply because my eyes will dry out if I stare at the screen unblinkingly for too long.
Like MaryK, I had to keep going back for multiple fittings and lenses. The first few I tried didn't work at all.
But if I didn't need glasses for distance wear I think I would rely on drugstore or prescription reading glasses. You can get prescription lenses just for computer use as well.
