Muffin Top Woes with some corrective actions

Yesterday I posted about these jeans that I purchased as my holiday outfit idea but they give me muffin top as they ride a bit low. They are such a fun pattern and all of my events are casual so I don't want to give up without a fight. Thanks for all the ideas. I have on a fitted cami and a silk shirt in a half tuck. Also added a belt. I also tried with a loose fitted sweater. I run a bit hot so that may not work out. Tell me what you think - K/R. So grateful for your advice. I hope the photos are ok as they seem a bit dark.

The pictures are a bit tough to see, Glory (such a pain, I know....I have this problem too when I try to photograph myself, which is why my daughter is called upon so often....)

How do you feel? From what I can tell, I think it works - I quite like the belt version.

They look good in your pics. Have you tried sitting? I've found that's the true test.... Both for comfort and muffin containment

Nadya is right....sitting will expose a muffin top.

Feeling your pain, Glory! I love the subtle pattern in these, and as well as I can see from the photo, your topper choice works. Nadya's right, though: sitting reveals the truth. Also, I'd wear them around the house for a couple of hours -- sometimes even the waist gives in stretch fabrics.

A little tough to see details, but I think your #2 and 4 look good. There IS a difference in #3 but not sure why I can't see the belt.

I think the half tuck of the silk blouse must give you some muffintop camoflauge because I don't see any

I like the heels that dress it up a tiny bit more too. If it were me, I'd be happy partying in that outfit!

Glory, I can discern much muffin top action from those pics, although as others have said, it's a bit hard to see. I can imagine the difficulty of getting a good picture using a mirror (one of the reasons I don't post pics myself!). #4 especially looks just great.

However, if there is a bit of spillover that you would prefer to camouflage, have you considered waist-surrendering? My husband's shape, no matter how thin he is, always includes little love handles, but you absolutely cannot see them when he's dressed because his button-front shirt obscures the top of his pants. I do the look myself quite a lot -- a loose button-front shirt over skinny jeans. Hides everything.

The other trick is to do a half-tuck, leaving your shirt out in the back. Works quite well with low-rise pants.

OK, I figured out #3 is the loose fitted sweater, right?

Is there enough length to the sweater that it could be pulled down to almost crotch length? (Without then hugging the tummy) I'd like to see if that works. Loose oversized longer sweaters over skiinies are usually pretty flattering and forgiving.

I have found that a good pair of Spanx can tame a muffin top, have you tried wearing those?

They look just fine in the photos, but personally I would not spend money on a pair of jeans that gave me a muffin top (wearing jeans that have shrunk, or continuing to wear old jeans after gaining weight is a different story, hee hee). Anyway, can you just size up? Or is the muffin caused by where the jeans fall in relation to your belly?
