Last night I watched the movie "What Happened to Monday" (seems also to be called "Seven sisters") https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1536537/

and i realised what I great opportunity it was to study how different hairstyles and clothes affects you, since the actress Noomi Rapace plays seven characters, each with a slightly different style. In my opinion all the more clear cut sharp looks suited her so much better and it was so inspiring to be able to see all the looks side by side like that. (There seems to be different opinions on what Kibbe type she is though and i guess the fact that she is usually extremely toned for movies makes it more difficult)

This makes me want to find out even more about what looks best on me.

This is an interesting question. I immediately thought of a movie/character, "City of Angels". My husband brought up "Ghost" and I agreed. Then, I began to think about it and I liked another Meg Ryan character, Alice in "Proof of Life".

But......now I'm wondering if it wasn't the clothing, but more the way the character was potrayed. I can't really think of an outfit in any of the movies, except for Maggies' oversized sweater and khakis. So maybe it's an attitude or "feeling" that I'm inspired by or influences me, more than the clothing itself.

Now I'm think my post isn't even really relevant to the topic, even though I do believe those movies have influenced my style in some ways.

I love Tilda Swinton’s clothes in The Bigger Splash (2015). May be because it felt like her own style and I’ve always admired it.

I was inspired by Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. I still love her style. Recently, a blogger I follow (Style Bee) described her own style as Diane Keaton meets Jane Birkin. I'll use that one.

Well now, the thing is, this movie sounds Educational as well as inspirational. So I have to think about movies that taught me something... it may have been Rear Window that first caught my attention in that way. Grace Kelly runs the gamut of ways to dress... from that magnificent black and white gown to penny loafers and jeans... and her magical overnight bag!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the Truth is Beauty blog lately. Link: https://www.truth-is-beauty.com
Its author proposes that one should dress for one’s face so things like height and body lines are not considered when selecting the style ID. Instead, they are taken into account afterwards when choosing from silhouettes available to the type. She shows multiple examples of celebrities dressed in what *should* look good on them based on their body type vs. what actually looks good on them - and that’s when you realize those clothes actually work with the wearer’s face. It sounds like this is what you picked up on in the movie where some of the sisters’ styles simply looked more in harmony with the actor’s face than others.

Oh yes, Rear Window was very inspiring fashion wise! I also remember being affected by Out of Africa, Urban Cowboy and You’ve Got Mail. I couldn’t pull it all off, but it inspired me in various ways.

I’m just back from Mary Poppins Returns and I must say it’s a rare modern movie that I really liked. I feel quite inspired. I need a Mary Poppins hat and a balloon!

I do enjoy seeing an actress playing different roles and how her character is defined by her clothes, hair, etc. I am sure I have been inspired by all the great images I have seen but can't thing of one right now that especially inspires me - although I would also like Mary Poppins hat and balloon!

Grace Kelly's clothes in Rear Window were amazing. Not my style but perfect for her.

Movies always make me want someone to dress me and do my makeup and hair. I don't remember the name of the movie but a heroine who was dressed in deeply plunging necklines made me feel better about my small bust because she was small, no cleavage but looked wonderful yet modest in those low cut silk shirts on her small bust. I have never dared try the look. I move around and. bend over too much.

Thank you all for so many tips on good movies to get inspired by. I really love "Rear Window" and found the clothes inspiring just like many of you did. I haven't seen "Mary Poppins returns" but recently bought the original movie for my daughter and watched it with her, and that was a great style movie as well! Love the colors and details.
Suz, my favourite actress is Katharine Hepburn, she is just so great and often wear the most wonderful clothes! And now I see that as I'm writing this I am wearing these trousers https://www.vivienofholloway.c.....nnel-p1651 so I guess I am quite a bit inspired by her style as well.
Wendy and Irina, I never saw any of the movies you mentioned, but I will try to remember the titles so that I can find them out.
And Style Fan, Annie Hall is such a grat movie for style inspiration.

Runcarla, I have never got the chance to see that one, but I've seen pictures from it and from the look of those it seems I would find it an inspiring movie!
