Update: It appears we will close on our current home Friday at 4pm, then in Indianapolis on Monday! Of course, I'm not exhaling until it all finished and behind me. Fortunately, we can stay with my parents over the weekend, since we will be without a place to land for a few days. Hope to be signing on from my new home next week!

So..... less than 48 hours before we were to close on the home we're selling. Just minutes (I kid you not) after we had finished loading our ABF trailer (no movers, just us and a couple of friends) and waved goodbye every plate, bed and chair......... our closing was delayed.

At first, it was innocent enough. A day. 2 days. But then came the last, final extension to June 3.

Did I mention that I quite my job and we put all our resources into preparing the house for sale?

The buyer's forfeit their earnest money now if they don't close, but that won't even touch the expenses we've already incurred. The reasons have been bizarre documentation difficulties with a Lender who apparently doesn't use a checklist. My lawyer is on top of things, but can't read the future to see how things will turn out in the end. Of course, our sellers, and their sellers in turn, have been left in a lurch. Financing issues are not uncommon, of course, but having them this late surely is.

We are people of faith, and believe that we are not alone in these little difficulties. We pray, and we find little ways to keep things as normal as possible. Nevertheless, it's tough to be left hanging in the air.

Two silly bits of fortune:

1. This is the first year we bought season passes to the Six Flags park just 5 miles from our current home. I thought the tickets would be wasted with our move. So far we've gone 4 times and will go tomorrow. This helps my kids keep persevering through their home schooling in an empty house as well.

2. When the time came to plan the 1 week of clothing I was going to keep with me, I had just had my fill of decision making. I ended up keeping a full basket (about 12 pairs) of shoes, 8 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of jammies, two skirts, a dress, and 4 jackets. Turns out I needed a heftier capsule than I thought!

Prayers and good thoughts are welcome! We're being kind to one another, and offering encouragement when one of us is feeling low.

Here's to a quick resolution!
