I’ve always liked the idea of motos, but lightweight toppers (the kind that look cool instead of keeping you warm/dry) rarely make it to the top of my wishlist. This one was an irresistible colour and price, so I decided to try two different sizes. It definitely fills a niche — more polished than a denim or utility jacket, less stuffy than a blazer. I think it might be a missing link in my neglected “going out” capsule.

So now I’m wondering about fit. I feel like back when skinnies were de rigeur, the approach was to wear motos as fitted as possible. Now that pants are looser, the smaller size looks a little off to my eye. The larger one is maybe too roomy in the shoulder and a bit longer than ideal, but it seems like it will be wearable with a wider variety of bottoms, and I could layer it over most sweaters as well as tees/thinner tops.

Thoughts? First four photos are the smaller size, with both slimmer and looser bottoms for comparison. Last four photos are the larger size.

Sorry for all the mirror smudges; the full-length mirror is in the kid bathroom.
