I love it on you. And I love the idea of it for you, even if you decide the fit of this one is not exactly what you wish. The sentence that kkards quotes popped out at me, as well, and also the fact that you ordered it in -- so you must have been dreaming of it.
….-elevates my extremely casual wardrobe but not in a way that l can’t ever see myself wearing it because it’s too smart, fussy etc
The shoulders in the first few photos look as if they are large; not so much in the skirt/ pullover photo). It could be that the material is a bit stiff and will soften.
Explanation/ context -- I was always pro-moto in theory but I had to try (and return) several jackets before I kept one. I tried two black ones -- truly over the top and costume-like on me. I tried some fabric ones -- wrong fabrics or colours. I finally got the blue Massimo Dutti one. Wore it quite a lot its first few years, put it aside for a year or two, wore it again for a year or so, then the pandemic, and now it is coming out again.
It is a "classic" moto -- cropped, slim cut. Unlike LJP, I love these jackets (cropped denim jackets, also) for their versatility with high waists, skirts, dresses, etc. I recognize that current cuts are larger or more oversized, but those cuts do not suit me in this style of jacket (or at least suitable ones might take a lot of try-ons to discover) so I have stayed away from the trend. I figure if I am wearing a more current bottom and footwear, that is fine.
Anyway, my point is that for my particular body type and figure modifiers and my particular needs, a modified moto (or other cropped jacket) is a wardrobe essential.
I wear it as a topper outside in spring/ fall. I wear it inside (with a puffer or other coat over for outdoors) occasionally in winter, especially if going someplace where the indoor temps will be relatively cool. I don't wear it to work from home. But I don't wear my blazers at home, either.
It's the kind of thing I'd throw on to meet friends at a pub. Or to do a library run.
But the fabrication matters. I have a really hard time with faux leather myself (I perspire in it and rarely like the way it feels) so if that is what it is made of, I might hesitate. But not everyone feels that way -- a lot of people love their faux leather coats and I know the quality of faux leather is much much better these days than in days past.
