MOTG goes to a concert - help me style my SIL!

My SIL is a sweet, busy mamma of four (under 5!). She's attending a Paul McCartney concert next week and I want to buy her something fab to wear because I know she hasn't been shopping or thought about style in ages. I want to pick something that will work in everyday life too. She said she'd like a simple elegant dress. Could we pair that with flat booties and a moto jacket? I am not a mom, so fab mammas what would you wear?

ETA, I'm not sure what her style descriptors would be, so just tell me what YOU would wear.

I have not been to a concert in soooo long . . .

A fab pair of jeans and moto would definitely work for a MOTG. And I love booties - practical for my climate, comfortable, and stylish. I just have to keep the heel at or blow 1.5 inches.

I'd definitely be in jeans - and a leather jacket of some kind . I can't imagine wearing a dress to a rock/pop concert - maybe to a jazz concert or the symphony but even those are trending so casual these days. I've seen younger women in "dresses" at Beyonce and Gwen Stefani concert, but those are more "club wear" than anything.

Depends on whether I'd be sitting, standing, or in a pit... and the band, along with the venue If your SIL is looking for an excuse to dress up a bit I think a dress with flat boots and a moto would totally work as long as the dress is more casual. Bonus that if it's casual she could use it for normal life too. If she doesn't have a great well-fitting pair of jeans, that's another option. A knit moto or jacket could also work (though perhaps a bit warm). Those could all get day-to-day wear, too.

Good thoughts, ladies. Thank you. Lisaap, I hear you on the dress. Its not what I would wear, but I think Aida has the right idea...the dress idea comes from her being excited about a night to herself! I agree casual is the way to go. And a knit moto would be comfy for buckling kids into car seats. Thistle I'll keep the shoe heel low!

I'm a MOTG too and totally understand her desire to take the opportunity to be glamorous. Those moments can be few and far between. A moto and boots would be a great accompaniment and could transition to her daily life really well. I usually wear jeans or a maxi dress to concerts depending on the venue.

My go to night out outfit is dark jeans, boots or fancy flats and edgy but soft jacket, all things that I can use on a daily basis. I add a slinky top and jewelry to give me that 'night out without the kids' feeling.

She is a very brave woman! 4 under 5 is a handful. What a great idea to help her focus on herself. A little kid help pre-event to allow her to dress would be great too!

Jen W, Maxis are a good idea. I feel silly asking, but what type of shoes work with maxi dresses?

Marin, More good ideas! I definitely need to work in some fancy with shoes or jewelry! And yes, my SIL is superwoman!

I am the same age and last time I went to a concert like this (which admittedly was about 12 years ago) I wore a dress (a clubby dancing dress in my case) and I didn't care in the slightest that everyone else was wearing the usual uniform (jeans). I felt fabulous in a way I wouldn't have had I worn jeans. So as long as she is aware that everyone else will be wearing jeans and not put off by that, I say go for it!

If she would enjoy it (which is not clear to me given that she is envisaging 'elegant') a leather moto jacket and flat ankle boots could balance the elegant dress, if that wouldn't spoil the look in her eyes (and from a MOTG POV leather can be wiped down when small child working on consuming chocolate dabs it with sticky fingers, as I can attest from experience!)
