MOTB dress saga and wake-up-(alert: mild rant)

Still no MOTB dress. Two more ordered but not feelin' good. Nothing remotely helpful in our local stores.

Here's the wake-up call to me. I was checking Nordie's "new arrivals" here and there. Put another AP fit & flare dress in my cart on the weekend and decided to order on Monday. Gone! All gone in both sizes I might use. Had hesitated because it wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for, color and print-wise and was sleeveless, again.

Next day saw another dress that wasn't there before that is a "maybe" so I ordered it. i was that afraid not to. Also one from Macy's.

But this is too nerve-wracking! If one day a potential dress appears and the next (or maybe the next week) it's gone and I can't really tell for sure about length, fit etc unless I buy it, and I can't "watch" for a week or so to see what's coming up, this is going to be one heck of a credit card saga. Nordstrom's will think I've lost my marbles.

A lot of my anxiety stems from the thought that I am just not going to find what I had hoped for and so may be too picky and later end up with nada. I will also need to be more aggressive about possible separates. Separates sold together as ensembles isn't so hard, but "collecting" random pieces in short time frame is.

I am not sure what Nordstrom's thinks of my marbles, but I have bought and returned a lot of things from them. Their returns are very slow if you return by mail so unless you are able to return in store, I would designate a separate credit card for these purchases.

I have found many times that if merchandise disappears fairly early in the season, it will reappear a few days later in random sizes (I always assume that these are returned items). I have bought many things from Nordstrom this way - just keep checking everyday and see if they show up again. The best way to watch for your size is to add all the possible sizes of each dress to your online wish list, then you can see the availability of all the items on one page.

Persevere! The right dress is out there! Maybe if you think of it as a dress safari -- getting the shot before the beast runs away!

Have you looked at Dillards? I just looked at their site and they show 132 MOTB dresses.
Maybe one of them would work for you.

I wish you lots of luck. Last year at this time I was frantically searching for a MOTGroom dress and never did find what I wanted. I used my backup dress, a floor length with wide straps that were not quite sleeves. I'd bought it at an end of season sale just in case. I had it cut off to knee length. Try on all available sizes because they are wonky.
You might try calling customer service to see if they can locate the dress you missed out on in your size.

So frustrating, I know. And nerve-wracking, because it's an important event for you.

I would just BBQ and send it back pronto if it doesn't work. You will get tired of trying them on, no doubt. But at least you do have some options with free delivery and returns.

Don't worry about what the store thinks. They offer the returns so that you will feel free to try what you want, and hopefully find the right thing from their store versus someplace else.

I agree with Suz to keep trying. Spring items should be hitting the racks, along with fancy dresses for Prom and spring weddings and Easter and all. My fingers are crossed for you!
