Fun, Em. Jessi, in NZ we are allowed to wear the inherited medals on our special commemorative day, but on the other side to where the service person would have worn them. Our special day is 25 April, called ANZAC Day, here and in Australia. It commemorates the Gallipoli landings in 1915, WW1.
I wear Dad's WW2 medals that day. Often it is grandchildren wearing them now. Most people love seeing it, but not pacifists of course. I feel a bit uneasy I think but those wars really shaped our country esp WW1. So I think important to acknowledge the history at least.
