Most comfortable, versatile 2.5(ish) inch heels for work?

My patent Danskos are KILLING my feet - the edges under my ankle just dig in and I don't know how much more patent can break in. Sadly I probably can't return them. I am thinking I need two pairs of comfortable work pumps in neutral colors (black and taupe?) for my short, wide high-arched feet. Any suggestions? Of course the ones catching my eye are AGLs in the $300 range, but would prefer to spend that on 2 pairs, not one! I could go up to 3 inches if the heel is solid.

Have you tried heel lifts in Danskos? I think Shannon has a similar problem and they solve it.
Have you tried Angie's pumps? They come in different widths and heel is about 2.5".

I've never had a problem with Dansko - I think these are cut lower or something so they hit in a different spot. Argh!

I can vouch for the Bella vita's ( heel is shorter than 2.5 though). My other comfortable pairs are any with platforms- especially bandolino or tahari- dsw or zappos are good places to look.

Surprisingly, ivanka trump. Basic pumps in a variety of colors. I have the regular black leather. I have a wide forefoot, narrow heel and a high-ish arch that has fallen.

I'll second bj1111 about the Ivanka Trump shoes. I don't have a pair, but I did try some on and they were surprisingly comfortable. Didn't pull the trigger, because I was looking for navy blue, and they didn't have that colour.

I got some super comfy Clark's (see pics below) Called Bendables (i don't really know why.) When I was hemming and hawing about the fit and my bunions, dude looking after me whipped out wides! Didn't even know they would have them in wide! Way too big' for me, those, but interesting to know there was that option.

Anyway, these were under $100. Leather. Cushiony inside like my running shoes. I can wear all day. They came in your standard dressy shoe colours.

Sure you can't wear dressy flats?

These are a super basic pump with a bit of appeal IMO and they are very confortable. I walk in these no problem. I have them in 3 colors. Highly recomendad.

I have no suggestions but I am soaking up this info. It is quite interesting that people have found a number of inexpensive options and those seem better than the expensive ones! This is what Angie was saying about her Bella Vitas.

Definitely try heel lifts in the Danskos Una - I have had two pairs of shoes that cut in the wrong spot and popping in a heel lift totally solved the problem. Mind you, that was for shoes that cut too high on the heel.

I recently purchased the Cole Haan Air Julianna pointy toe kitten heel pumps in a neutral taupe. The heels might be a bit shorter than you're looking for though - I think they're only 1.5 - 2 inches. Extremely comfortable though with the Air Nike footbed.

This sounds weird but can you try softening them with some petroleum jelly or, if you have objections to using it then, coconut oil or even olive oil - this is the only way to soften patent leather imo. Rub the oil on the inside & outside till the shoe "warms" slightly then wear them with old socks for a while.

I recently bought some pumps at the Easy Spirit outlet...just because. They were "cheap", red, wedges, with some animal print and a pointy toe....just because. Hang in there, I am going somewhere with this. Well, these stupid things ended up being the most comfortable pair of shoes imaginable. So I went and bought some wedge sneakers from them..3 inches ! Mon Dieu !!!! And I wore them for SIX hours with no problem.

So how about trying some Easy Spirit pumps ? Who knew ????

If you really love the AGLs, you might consider getting them anyway. My 20-something attorney DD sprang for a pair (she does NOT work in biglaw) and she's worn them every day since, walking everywhere and lugging file boxes in perfect comfort, and always feeling fab.

My Clarks pumps in brown, red and black and Easy Spirit nude pumps are my go-to work pumps. In fact I bought them all about 10-15 years ago and they are still my most comfortable and most used pumps!

Clarks are super comfy, and I have heard good things about Ivanka Trump - I know Nordstrom has some nice shoes of hers. I recently bought this pair of Naturalizers (Bohemia is the style name) and have been very happy with the fit and comfort, and I've gotten many compliments on them too. They have a nice stitching detail on the front and I think they're on sale now.

Take a look at the brand Hogl, it's a Nordic brand of shoes that do special cushioned soles. I've got a pair, a bit pricey, but heavenly and worth it. An investment of a lifetime!

If you can get away with it, I would try a wedge. Pumps are killing me these days. Even if they are comfortable, I am just tired at the end of the day.

really, though, you will have to play cinderella to find just the right shoe for you. i tried the cole haan juliannas and i had to give them away. the last must really match your feet and have support where you need it.

So, I'm sz. 9 feet, wide, with very high arches. I can feel part of your pain. However, my mom is sz. 6, double wide, with high arches, so maybe even more than you'd expect?

AGLs are very comfy, Una. You probably do want to seriously consider them, especially if you are considering getting just two pairs of shoes. I also find Franco Sartos to always be much more comfortable than they seem like they should be. I have had great luck for comfort with Naturalizers. I haven't had great luck for wear for serious hard core wear with Naturalizers. They will last a season, but not much more. However, that may be just want you need to get you time to know what you can wear and what you want to wear. Also, what about these rockports?

How wide are your feet? Single wide? Or double wide? (My mom's are double wide.) What elfin size do you need? (I know you have tiny feet!)

Elle: AGL are Attilio Giusti Leombruni (you can see why everyone calls them AGLs!!!) Here they are at Nordstrom.

ETA: Una, would you consider these? http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/at.....s-_-1_13_C The black and metallic will let them cover both bases for black and taupe for you. I'm not super fond of the style, but just thought I should list them.

K, you are PSYCHIC! I've actually pinned those as I love them! My only concern with the AGLs is the lower heel heights. I'd like a bit more heel. But I could do two pairs, one lower and one higher.

Great suggestions. I've ordered Angie's heels in pewter to try - hopefully they will not be too narrow.

A huge issue for me is that I need a deeper toe box and higher vamp as my feet are so short that my toes are like 1/3 of my foot!

Ha ha! Too funny. The higher vamp is why I'm not as fond of them and probably part of why you love them. And they are 2 1/4 inch. Is that really to low? It isn't high, but it isn't bad.

I have the best luck with CLarks but have not been feeling their styles.

I have really good luck with Naturalizers. I have a pair of Mary Janes with a small heel (black and taupe) that are my go-to shoes for working trade shows. I can wear them all day -- no problem. For what it worth Una AGL did not work for my feet - too narrow and they do not come in different widths...

I have these Sugar Dust by Clarks (http://www.zappos.com/clarks-s.....wn-leather). Two-inch heels. They look frumpy in the photo but cute IRL. (I have a bunion and they come in wide.)
