I haven't been able to get to the computer (am away from home on holiday) but now have some more pics to show you

I think #1, #8 and the dress you posted in the second comment are the best bets. #1 is the most subdued/appropriate but not very adventurous.

With #3, I like the cut, I like the back but I feel like the straps over the bodice just add a bit too much glitz - I feel like either the front or back should be a statement but not both.

#6 doesn't do you justice at all.

Anne you look gorgeous in all of these! One question I have is, is it important that you are buying a dress that you can wear again? If so it's a matter of considering what other occasions you could wear the dress which might assist the decision making. However it is your brothers wedding so that in itself could justify a very special dress that may not get a lot of wear...hope that makes sense.

I love #6, it's very feminine and the color is beautiful on your. I also adore the red one but it may not be as versatile as the blue.

Anne, I had to log in to say how fabulous you look in these evening dresses.

Dress #1 I have some reservation about the length on you, but generally like the dress.
Dress #2 is a knock out but more cocktail appropriate IMO
Dress #3 your favourite and also mine, this dress really highlights your fab collar bone and small waist and looks very elegant to my eye.
Dress #4 lacks the impact of the blue dresses

Dress #5 I think would look absolutely sensational for a garden setting. I would consider losing the ribbon belt (a bit bridesmaid to my eye) and replacing with a slim silver leather/ pleather belt. I also think it would be easy to find a cropped blazer to wear with this dress which you could wear afterwards.

Anne, love you in all of these, but the red one is stunning! I suggest to use sleeve tights or a pashmina wrap over it, rather than a bolero or jacket. I also loved the nr. 1 and the latest(coral with florals hem) but nr.3-5 find it not really appropiate for a wedding.

How formal is this wedding? My own sense of a casual afternoon backyard wedding in my community would suggest a slightly more casual, less cocktail style of dress, but the custom may be very different where you are. And then there are dressy garden weddings and evening weddings...I guess I don't know the level of formality that is desired.

Having said that, Dress #2 is a WOW dress on you, but feel more like a cocktail dress. Dress #1 looks good from the front but feels perhaps a bit staid...it is tough to tell for sure. I am not crazy about the detailing on the coral dress. But I love dress 3 (pics 6/7) and I also think the final one could have potential if the belt were changed out; this is the one that looks most "afternoon garden wedding" to my eye, FWIW.

You have stunning shoulders and collar bone and it will be so much fun to highlight them! You are going to look stunning.

dess 1 or dress 3 - I like the style of #1 for a wedding but the length of #3, the last dress you added (with the floral bottom) would be very pretty for a garden wedding.

I can see why your husband loves #2 -- you look "hot" in it, as the kids say. That's my problem with it for a wedding: it seems a little too overtly sexy for the occasion (form-fitting AND glittery AND skin-exposing.) #1 is quite alluring, but less exposed. That's the one I'm voting for.

Very pretty dresses! Did you get a bead on the expected temperature for the event, and do you run cold or warm ? I'd have to plan around whether I'd spend all evening wrapped in my pashmina. So sometimes one dress looks best with the jacket or wrap that you may need. My bias has been to aim for a less cocktail look at weddings but I don't know why, exactly, so I would also skip dress# 2. The coral dress with a darker sash does look good for outdoor wedding and that neckline looks good with different types of wraps.

Hmm, if the event is a casual backyard wedding, then I think the first three dresses are too fancy and cocktail style. They all look smashing on you but I think the one with the floral bottom, with a cropped jacket and a belt instead of the sash as others have suggested, would be the most appropriate for this kind of event.

How exciting! You look lovely in all of these pics but I'm agreeing with RoseandJoan and Suz. I like dresses 3 (pic 6) and 5 (second post) the best.

anne, you are one hottie. my faves are 1 and 3. 3 is very vavoom--up to you how much of this element you want.

1 is quietly elegant--it says, "yes i look fabulous thank you, and how are _you_ doing this evening."

Anne, I just saw your other thread and now that I know this is to be a "casual backyard setting" I think it's true that most of these seem too evening/cocktailish for that type of event. The one with the flowers at the hem seems most appropriate so far.

I think you might need to get #2, not for the wedding, but for date night with your husband! It looks amazing on you.

I like #6 for the wedding. A very pretty cut on you and not a style I see everyday.

I'm surprised at all the votes for #1. That is my least favorite, by a long shot. Then again, maybe it is the photos. I find it too matronly and aging for someone who looks like she looks in all the other pics! You are too young for that dress, and I think all the pleats, high neckline, etc... swamp your slim figure.

You are a total knockout in dress #2. I can see why your husband loves it. What a gorgeous figure you have! If it's too much for the wedding, you need to find yourself a dress similar to this, to add to your closet for date night/cocktail parties/etc. I love the low back in particular -- if I had your back... I would wear this style in a heartbeat! What a lovely back you have.

Dress #3 is my favorite. It is not too matronly. It is youthful, and highly flattering to your figure. What gorgeous shoulders you have! And, it has interesting details.

Dress #4 I can see why you like it. I like the cut and style as much as #3, but I find it so refreshing to see you in blue, so dress 3 has an edge.

Dress #5 is way too sweet. It goes in the opposite direction of #1.

#6 and the one you posted later- you look great in all of those! #2 is a great fit but might feels a bit too glittery for a wedding (although depends on the wedding!)

I like #6 - lovely color, fancy, sweet but still grown up. After that I like #1 - stunning color, interesting construction; #1 isn't my #1 because I find it "older matron". It calls for hoochie shoes to take that away, but hoochie shoes aren't nice.

I also like #3 a lot, but I worry that it's a little more disco than wedding.
