In no particular order:
- A gentle reminder not to forget that it takes a while for fashion direction to change. And some things don't change at all. There is no need to give up grey or booties, for example. And it shan't disappear from retail either.
- Don't give up anything you enjoy wearing. Milk your signature looks until you're bored with them.
- Sometimes I like to get on a trend fast because it's aligned with my current emotions and how I want to evolve my style. For example, I'm trying to find fabulous FULL length straight leg jeans and trousers. Nothing. It's too soon. Crops are still very, very dominant, and fringe full length pants are very wide. Very happy I bought my full length olive Dre jeans at the NAS. They are sufficiently tailored and look polished. Wore them this weekend. LOVE them.
- Individualism will become a Modern Classic.
- Retail overkill: gigantic tops, ripped and destroyed denim, too short skirts and dresses, skinny jeans that cut off your circulation with zero room on the calf, the cropped pants trend, shoddy workmanship, black, and relentless social media.
- Bring back: tailoring, well made mainstream clothing that costs more but looks fab and goes the distance, full length pants and jeans options, midis, brown, and focusing back on the product instead of how to get it through as many social media channels as possible. (At the end of the day - a product will sell itself because it's fabulous, and we are not uninformed consumers).
I have a busy work day, so I shan't be able to respond to your comments all that diligently. But I know you'll get an engaged discussion going, and I look forward to reading your thoughts.
