More semi-casual jacket pondering: what do you think?

Another thing I'm looking at for my upcoming semi-casual spring conference. What do you think? It is very casual but I think the details make it a step up from a fleece or hooded sweatshirt. I'm aiming for something that is more formal than a jean jacket but less formal than a blazer.

This would probably not go so well with a dress but I think it is kind of cute, and could possibly go with my stretch cotton pencil skirts (I have a black and white floral one and a light beige/oyster colored one), and of course my usual uniform of jeans, jeans, and more jeans. Based on my previous experience I expect the outside weather to be rather warm but the AC to be on full blast inside the hotel.

What to you think? And do you like the grey or the black? I have a million black cardigans so I am leaning towards grey, myself. If I get it at all.

I really like the silhouette on this Mander. Not sure if I'm digging the two strings that come down on each side - presume that is for cinching in the waist somewhat.

Oh yes, I like. As you say a great "in-between" piece. I have been looking for something like it myself. Where is it from? No doubt the US which means no-go for me in Oz.

I agree with your assessment. The fabric appears to be a casual knit but the style and shape are less casual and the piece should fit nicely. I prefer the black as it seems less casual to my eye. I think you might be surprised by how versatile it is when you try it.

Surprisingly, it's from Asda (basically Wal-Mart, but in the UK). As such it might not be the greatest quality, but then again I have several items from Wal-Mart that have lasted a surprisingly long time.

I decided two up votes was good enough so I went ahead and ordered the grey one. I can always return it if I don't like it in person!

I love this jacket/cardi and can certainly see it with more casual pieces, denim pants, skirts for sure. Other casual skirts would seem to work well too. Fun.

I really love the shape of these casual jackets. Either color would work as a really useful neutral.

I think it will quite useful - fun with jeans and skirts. If it is reasonable and you like the grey, you can always get the black as well. Some things are worth duplicating!

I do think that could work for "structured casual" when you can combine comfort with
bit of polish. I could see it with slim ponte knit pants and dark-wash jeans to balance the gray knit. Shoes and accessories can make it either more classic or more gearish, and on the same trip. Now I'm interested!

What about a ponte moto, Mander? I love the top you posted, and could certainly see it looking fab on you, but I'm not sure about its use at a conference. Since it would likely be a great piece in your closet anyway, I'd recommend purchasing and trying with your conference capsule.
