My big order from the first day of pre-sale finally arrived, *11* days later...

1) Madewell Verse Tie Back Top - was hoping this would work untucked over full skirts, but it's an awkward length on me (petite with a long torso), too long for skirts but too short for most of my pants. I preferred the larger of my two sizes for a boxier fit.

2) Mural Drape Trench - Sucked in by the pretty mint color, I didn't notice that this trench has no closure. It's medium-weight, would definitely be fall outerwear for me, too heavy/long to wear indoors at my desk... but the lack of belt or buttons is a dealbreaker. The XS ran fairly TTS, although the shoulders were a bit snug on me and I'd consider sizing up to fit a sweater underneath (if it had a closure!).

3) Badgley Mischka double face coat - More mint! The wool/poly blend feels thin and lower quality. But more importantly, size XXS is laughably huge on me. Well, at least I got my HEWI teal topper this year. And I have one more mint coat, scored on a popback, coming in the mail.

4/5) Aquatalia Carie booties - These were one of my big splurge items. Spoiler: I don't know whether to be sad or relieved that they didn't work out! The shaft might be too high for my petite calves, because it was a bit too baggy at the ankle and a bit too tight at the top. At this price point, they need to be perfect, so they're going back for some other small-footed lady to enjoy.

6) Gibson Cozy Fleece, blouson sleeve pullover in blue and convertible wrap cardi in black (not pictured) - All of the cozy fleece seems to run small. The cut of the pullover was just meh on me. I initially liked the cardi when I tried it on in-store, but the front part is a bit fiddly and then I remembered that my Gibson fleece top from last year pilled very quickly. This fabric doesn't feel like it would hold up much better.

7) Halogen Blouson Sleeve Jacket - I had a hunch that the "red chinoise" color would be good for me, and it is. It seems to be a different color in different fabrics; here it's a true medium red, not too tomato or too blue. But I'll have to find it in a different piece, as I have no hope of filling out this jacket.

8/9) Blondo Lanka booties - Run small, size 5.5 fit like a 5 even without socks. Ankle fit is pretty good. I just felt bored when looking at them in the mirror on me though -- something about the round toe, and they also make my feet look disproportionately small.

10/11) Trouve Wrap Blouse - Saving the best for last! I did manage to keep something from this huge order, and it was one of my low-probability pieces. I loved this bird print immediately and ordered it in XXS despite the fact that my small bust and ill-defined waist are NOT well-suited to wrap tops. This one is a true wrap and designed to be drapey with the kimono styling; I think that's why it manages to work on me. There is a snap at the bust but I leave it undone so that I can wrap the top tighter. It looks really good over a black fit-and-flare dress or skirt. I'm wearing it out to Nordstrom shortly to process my returns, and just sitting on the couch typing this, it's more comfortable than the fussy cold-shoulder top that I was wearing earlier in the day.
