This is actually an old thread I don’t mind being resurrected as it tracks what’s happening now vs almost a year ago. It’s surreal to see how many large clothing brands and b&m shops still seem to be struggling, even though Covid restrictions are easing in the US... until you look at the discount retailers, which still seem to attract customers if what I see is any indication. A small number of stalwart local boutique shops here are still standing, thanks to creative social media marketing and personal relationships with customers. But it’s got to be tough.
By contrast, garden centers, hardware and home decorating stores seem to be going gangbusters still! People may be emerging from their cocoons a bit, but it seems *home* has taken a big priority.
