more potential bubble skirt outfits: volume on volume edition ETA: one more

Trying out more potential holiday outfits with my bubble skirt, this time using a couple of new tops I just received. I tried both with my Bellatrix jacket because Angie suggested I try that jacket last time. The jacket is slightly too long to wear unbuttoned but I think it's OK with the bubble skirt when it's closed. ETA: Please note that I WILL have to have a jacket, as it's too cold for just a top. I would like the option to remove the jacket if the venue is warm though.

1-2: This is a mixed media voluminous Michael Stars top. It's silk in front and jersey in back. Too long to wear untucked with this skirt, but I think it tucks nicely.

3-4: I don't really think this one works but I'm showing it anyway. This is a Halogen peplum shell that I recently got from Nordies'. I love that the peplum is done with vertical rather than horizontal seaming. I'm planning on wearing it tomorrow with trousers for another holiday event tomorrow.

5: An outfit from my previous round of potential outfits with this skirt. Most people liked this one best out of that set (minus the belt). I could use this jacket with the other outfits instead. I thought the lace print jacket was a little too busy with the print of the cami here.

So what do you think? Anything a winner here?

ETA: The thing I would be wearing this to is a holiday music concert at Symphony Hall at night. People usually dress up in festive but not super dressy attire.

ETA: Added one more (#6). Angie suggested a sleek black top. I didn't want to do all black, but I remembered I had this sheer metallic black/gold top in the donate bag. I don't like it on its own but under the jacket it's fine. I need to remember to push the sleeves of the top up though!

I think #2 has great potential - probably my fave - if you build a column of colour underneath it. A sleek black tucked top is required to my eye.

Love #2 and #3, but I think you'll freeze.

Note: Remember that Diana is not wearing hose and booties/pumps yet. Imagine the tops with those finishing touches.

So, Angie, just to be clear, you are talking about lace jacket + black top + bubble skirt + black hose and booties? No color at all? I really did not want to go all black for the holidays!

ETA: You are right, the no jacket versions are just to show how the tops look. I will not be wearing either of them alone IRL, although I would like the option to remove the jacket if it's warm at the venue. This is why I am not crazy about #5, the cami is very skimpy and it cannot be worn without a jacket.

Angie, I added another outfit with a fitted metallic gold/black top. I don't actually like this top (it was in the donate pile and has fit issues) but it's OK when tucked and hidden under a jacket. What do you think?

Yes. That's my vision. Diana, your lace jacket isn't all black - just to split hairs. Remind me - you don't have silver pumps, do you? I think you have black. And you have fun clutches.

I am thinking along the same lines as Angie -- the flowered blazer looks great with the skirt, but I think a simple, sleek black top with a simple neckline under the blazer will work best.

Angie, no pumps, period. I do have black kitten heels but I don't want to wear them as I will most likely have a ride there but I may be taking the subway/walking home. I will most likely be wearing the black booties in photo #5. I could wear my red fluevog booties, which might be fun. Probably either my red clutch or my red studded purse. What do you think of outfit #7? Or do you think I should just wear one of my many fitted black tees and call it a day?

Push up the sleeves of #7 - which I think is #6 - and you're sorted. I'm assuming that all the blacks match irl.

Lets see the outfit finished off with hose, footwear and clutch. We have a winner on the horizon.

The sparkly top is too gold-toned, I think. It's also a little itchy, so I'm thinking just plain black is better. LOL, there was a reason why that top was going to get donated.

Even minus the sparkly top, NONE of the blacks match actually. Is that an issue? The skirt is not actually black, it's a dark charcoal. The black in the jacket is black, but it's got a satin sheen to it. My black opaque tights and booties are VERY black. If I wear a black tee, I have like 6 to choose from so that is not a problem.

Not an issue at all. The light in the photos was making the blacks look extra "off" if you know what I mean.

OKAY. Now lets see the right top with all the finishing touches.

I paper dolled the right tights and booties into the photo. Sorry, i refuse to put on tights right now. Especially THOSE tights. They look great but are a pain to put on (stupid control top).

OK, with the right top (a plain black tee) and the red booties, or with the black tights and black booties photoshopped in. Curious what you think of the bare legs (would be nude hose really)/red booties with this outfit.

The black top makes a world of difference. Well done.

I have a personal preference for the hose and black booties option because the combination is dressier and more ladylike. But the red booties option is fun and gets my thumbs up too.

I agree, Angie. I'm slightly worried about looking TOO dressy though. But I am leaning toward the black tights and booties for a couple of reasons:
-the tights are warmer than nude hose.
-it's easier to SIT in opaque tights because I don't have to worry about the slit on the skirt falling open too much.

Now, this thread was fascinating! So glad I'm late to post on it, so I could see the full evolution. I couldn't see what Angie saw at all, but I learned a lot. And Diana, you look amazing!

Diana the final version is perfect. I absolutely love this skirt but I think it's tricky to style given the volume. This styling is flattering and so attractive.
