More NAS Contemplations: Tops

So, I have lots of work to do, which means I'm procrastinating by looking at NAS again and trying to decide if I need more tops.

There are virtually no long-sleeved tops in my closet that aren't tees - Universe save me from the long-sleeved tee! - or heavier sweaters and sweat shirts. I already ordered the Halogen asymmetrical hem sweater and the Halogen floral sweater.

But, I still need more options, yes?

I was looking at this denim shirt:

I've always enjoyed wearing them, and haven't owned one in years.

They're sold out in the colour I want (light denim) in the petite sizes I wear. Sizing up to regular would mean a slouchier, baggier fit, which could work.

Any thoughts?

The blouses in Angie's top picks look sublime as dressier, more playful options. My imagination was especially captured by the VC ruffle hem blouse and the tapestry peasant blouse. I'm concerned about volume, especially since they don't come in petite sizes. If I sized down to where the tops didn't overwhelm my body, they might not fit in the shoulders. Should I try these, or wait to find better options for a small body?

The Halogen denim shirt is a very good item. A repeat style in fact - that they have had three years in a row. Made my top picks list last year, Robin. Go ahead and order that one. Sure there isn't a petite in the wash you want?

The VC ruffle hem blouse works very well on petites actually. It runs big so size down. Great with black bottoms.

I ordered several versions of that shirt last year, in multiple colors and sizes. I loved the fluidity and colors ( dark grey and off white). But it just didn't fit me at all. In one size I couldn't raise my arms or reach for something. In the next size it was just too big all over. I am not a petite - I'm 5'6". The comments reflected this but I ignored them. I hope it works for you.

I ended up buying this chambray shirt and I love it.

Hmm, maybe I'll try the VC blouse then. Now, to go small or extra-small...?

JAileen: Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't mind loose-fitting tops, I just don't want slouchy, with extra fabric bunching up.

The Halogen denim shirt washes: the light denim is a pale blue, light and clear without grey in it. The greyed ebony is a darker blue that is the most streamlined of the colors because it looks like the buttons match the shirt color. It is the color of traditional blue jeans.
The buttons on the ivory and light denim look dark and so are more prominent. The ivory cloud is a warm off white color. None of the colors looks distressed or faded in some areas. I like them all.
