OK, I just got my package from J. Crew today. I ordered two boatneck linen tees, both in XXS, one in navy and one in white.
I tried the white one on first. It was absolutely huge! Really depressing. But I know that dyes can change how a garment fits, so I thought I would try the navy one on anyway, even though it was the same size.
Well, the navy one fits fine, except the neck is a little bigger than I would like. It was a night and day difference.
So I put the two shirts on my bed and lay the navy one on top of the white one. I would swear that the white one is two sizes bigger. The width of the navy one at the armpits is 16", and at the bottom it is 17". The width of the white one at the armpits is 18", and the bottom is 19"! So there is a full four inches' difference in overall circumference of the torso on these two shirts, which are supposedly the same size. And both have "XXS" written on the inside back.
And to make things even more exciting, the white tee has had the care instructions snipped out.
This is my first time ordering clothes from J. Crew. Is this typical? I'm not sure I'd like to be a repeat customer.
