More experimenting with dresses.

First dress is an oldie and won't last long as its cotton and thining quite badly. I tried teaming it with a long fountain style cardi and belt not sure if it works maybe there are too many colours but thankfully I have nw got you lot to decide that for me!

second dress shows off a bit too much flesh for here, unless on the beach so I wanted to wear a vest under to cover myself up a bit, does it look weird?

Those legs! I'm envious.

I love the first look. I prefer the larger belt than the smaller red belt. All that color is a bit of a change for you but looks really great.

I'm not sure about the second look. Lots of women layer tops like these. Sometime they look good, other times not. I'm not sure what the secret is. I'm leaning toward the idea that this dress is one that doesn't work with the layering. I'll be interested to see what others think. I'm always learning.

I think you might be right ref the second dress Alecia I am going to try it with my denim jacket, this might be the only thing that really works with it, failing that it will reside with beach and holiday wear for the rest of its life! lol!

I love how you've styled the first dress, both ways! The larger belt looks better, but I like how the red adds a pop of color.

Could you wear a waistcoat over the second dress, instead of something under it? That might look cute.

OMG M2T i love the way you've styled the 1st outfit stunning.
I'm with ccicele i think the 2nd dress might be better with something over the top for coverage rather that underneath. I tried something similar with a low cut maxi dress and everyone felt it would be better with something over the top x

cciele I was thinking of adding a waistcoat to my wardrobe anyway so that might be worth a try. I think the red belt would be better with the cream shoes as the ones in the picture are too yellow and adding too many colours. I am also looking to invest in a nice red bag if I can find one I like without spending too much!

Thanks loulou I will look out for waist coat or similar layer on next shopping trip, I found a nice brown leather one in Massimo Dutti but I tad on the expensive side! maybe worth the investment though as I am sure it will llast for ages.

M2T - I think the first outfit is FANTASTIC.

I prefer it with the wide black belt; to my eye the color of the red belt didn't work so well with the dress. I also think a wide belt does a better job of standing up to the dress - the skinny belt looks slightly lost. The skinny belt look is by no means awful, I just thought the first look was great.

I was torn about the second dress. From the front it looked quite nice but the back view seemed off to me. I like the tailored vest suggestion and a jean jacket also sounds good.

Thanks Medusa the back look is the one that was putting me off too. I am going shopping tomorrow, after mums and baby group, on the hunt for the perfect pair of black shoes for the christening. On my travels I will look out for a waistcoat, any suggestions on the best colour? I noticed a black one in H&M but thinking that might be too harsh, what I really want is brown leather!!?

Looking at the link to that mall, I think we will send out a search party if you don't post in the next 48 hours. Do you think having that much choice makes it harder to shop?

With regards to the dresses I also prefer the wider belt and agree with Medusa that it is the back view of the second dress which is not working.

You have some beautiful clothes and accesories.

As to the first dress, I prefer it with the first belt ..
The second dress.. you should try it with a small white cardigan..

M2T, the first look is a 10! Just fantastic.
I like black with the second dress, although a grey might be softer. I don't mind the way you've put the black top under it. Maybe a similar top with a deeper scoop in back, if you can find one, would work. The ruffles remind me of the girly tops worn with denim right now, so a short denim jacket may be just what's needed. Btw, you have the most perfect knees I've ever seen; smooth, not knobby at all.

They are great casual dresses!!! Agree that a SS cardie or something over the top of the 2nd would give you the extra coverage you need. Looking hot!!!

Oh the first dress with that gorgeous sweater and wide black belt is so beautiful! I love this on you.
The second, I do think you have so many better things that you have shown us BUT, I personally have a soft spot in my heart for this purple layered ruffle dress because I used to have one that I loved many years ago. I like the idea of layering a denim jacket over it to give it the edge we keep talking about here lately.
You are gorgeous and your legs are so pretty. You look like you could work as a model for anthing to do with the legs, or any kind of model really!

I used to get lost in this Mall all the time but I am getting used to it now! my husband still complains that it is far too big - what a man! It is great to have so much choice but on the other hand I always keep looking for something thinking I might find it an a better colour size etc etc and end up not buying anything at all! lol!
San I think I am going to buy this cardigan in black too I think they are easy to wear and great for layering in cooler weather. It is from Zara. Thanks for the legs compliment, you are very kind.

Oh my, YOU LongLegM2T the first dress is so fab, you just stepped out from Vogue.
Love the neutral heels, with it, but please do not play it with the red belt. First pictie is perfect so it is!:-)
I like the purple dress also, the black cami underneath is OK for me. You can try a neutral one with it too, or a crochet shrug in neutral (then you do not need the cami)...or a purple tank, in same shade of the colour, but of slightly differrent intensty, if it's make sense...
