I was encouraged to post more outfits from another thread as I am rebuilding a wardrobe from scratch.

The sweater dress is another gift from a dear friend. ( Same friend who gifted me the fusha sweater with the black bow.) I have never in my life attempted a sweater dress....and I am not sure I should....

I am not sure if the belt works, but it looks odd without any thing. I feel naked with out the jacket. I think this would look nice with boots.

The green dress/ sweater is something I have had for a while. Does this sweater work? It may be too big for me now? Again, I would wear this with tall boots. But I kind of feel pregnant in it. Perhaps it is left over ham from Christmas;-)

#4 is really cute I love the pattern on your shoe as well as the overall color palette. I also really like #1. I think the pattern in #1 needs a lot of attention so to keep the bow on your sweater from fighting with the pattern and color changes in the top of the dress button the sweater all the way to balance the eye candy. I also like #3 better than #2 the jacket adds polish and structure.

Once again, you and your friend are great at picking colours for you! You definitely look lovely in these shades of fuchsia, magenta or eggplant, peacock blue. These are "my" colours, too, and my hair and skintone are quite similar. You'll also look great in most other blues and in orchid.

I think you are right that your sweater in #1 may be a bit large and boxy for you now. I wonder how it would look partly buttoned and belted over top? It might only emphasize your bust more than you would like, but it is worth a try, especially if you are still losing weight and don't want to buy a whole lot right now.

You may feel pregnant in the dress because of the higher empire style waist. That can be a tough style to wear.

I love the sweater dress on you! I think you can wear it belted, but it would be great to see it unbelted, too. Can you also try it on with the boots you would likely wear?

A jacket is a great idea, but I think this one is a bit long. Usually with dresses a shorter, cropped jacket works better. On the other hand, I'm not sure a cropped jacket would be the most flattering look for you and this might look better with the boots to balance it.

I don't know...not loving the sweater dress......the boots make it look better though.

I have a wedding to attend later today ( on a Thursday yes) so I may have to go back to the drawing board.

I really like #4 - thanks for the follow up! I would wear dark hose to keep the leg line long, instead of broken up by your nude ankle. Shoes are really current and cute.

I actually like the belt in #2, but I would try with a little higher heel, or the boots (looks good with boots and no belt too). Seamed stockings are va va voom and go with your little bit retro vibe. Love them!!

Have you tried the black jacket with the patterned dress? The colours are awesome.

The sweater dress unbelted looks good. In fact from what I can see the sweater dress unbelted with the short cardi and boots looks like a great outfit. If this is particularly for the wedding then then I suggest the sweater dress with the jacket and higher heel shoe.

A few thoughts:

I love the sweater dress best with the boots and black cardi, as well as with the jacket.

I think the blue cardi might work over the dress with heels a little better, although I like it as is.

Suz is right that these colors are wonderful on you.

The fact that you like the seamed hose leads me to believe that a retro ladylike look might not just suit your appearance, but also make you feel fab.

I know it's work. But I learn so much from mixing things in my closet.

The unbelted sweater dress with the short cardi is fantastic. It's my favorite of the bunch.

The sweater dress outfits are my favorite! I like it best unbelted with the cardi, but I also like it with the belt. Great outfit.

I think the new sweater with the bow (in #4) would look great with your black pencil skirt and seamed stockings. Give that one a whirl!

The sweater is sweet but a little short to wear with pants. Tops with pants are better longer. Here's Angie with examples:

Thank you every one for your input. I am planning on experimenting a bit with your suggestions! I am going to try and make these dresses work for a while and cycle them out eventually after I drop some more weight.

So, I just got back from a mid week wedding and was so thankful I wore my jacket and boots. The reception was in a lovely old brick building but it was FREEZING.

I felt good.

Suz made some really good points. What fun to get to build up your wardrobe from scratch! I love the outfit you came up with for the wedding. It looked lovely with the festive flower in your hair. The boots look great with that dress (and the belt looks good with it too--either way, really).

OMG, yourwedding guest outfit was no less than marvellous! Smashing!!!
But back to the thread, nr 1 screams some heels, otherwise, perfect.:-)
Purple sweatter dress is also a great piece, I do wear mines with a slip under them (a lesson learned here, at YLF) and find this little trick makes all the difference! So don't give up on them!I like it belted, and under the jacket too, but most of all looks the one you came up with for the wedding-of course!
Nr 4 has a great potential, but would advice lengthening the trousers if possibble-as their length is a bit short to my eyes, even with flats.
