Mongolian Lamb Vest Obsession

So...I bought not one, but two, mongolian lamb vests on ebay this week. In my defense, one is much more for indoor wear and the other could do dual duty. And I live in MN...enough said.

Vest #1 came in the mail today...I plan on wearing it, almost exactly as pictured, this upcoming Friday when I go out to dinner with my besties from nursing school. It is so soft and light..I love it! Take a look:

I love the fist one...stunning! The second is perhaps more of an acquired taste but I agree that keeping the under layers nice and slim and streamlined is key. I think it will be quite a fab statement piece. It could possibly work with a pencil skirt and long boots too.

My advice is to keep the rest of the look simple.

Although I don't have a Mongolian style fur vest, I do have a faux fur vest which I found challenging to style. Here are some of my efforts, maybe some of the pictures will give you ideas:

These pictures would apply more to your first option. The second one is surely a statement piece, where, again, simplicity would be key. That way the vest is the focus.

Wow, the second one is very dramatic! I don't think I could ever pull it off, but I'd love to see what you do with it. The first one looks very versatile. I saw a similar one when I was out shopping recently but passed it by because I have enough vests! Please share pics of how you style these.

I have lurked around this site for quite awhile...just joined. When I can post photos in a few days I surely will! Thanks for all of your input! I think I'll be sticking to skinny jeans or trousers and pencil skirts for these toppers...the second one is a statement in and of itself!

Both gorgeous! I have several that I bought during the last 3 years!
You can wear them over dresses (love this look) or over skinnies with soft silk blouses!

Boy , #2 is hard to wear outside of a movie set!

I like #1 on the model and think maybe only certain people can pull this off, and then only if wearing the right other pieces. Simple is of course key, but also, smooooth. So, flat/thin/silky knit or woven fabrics that contrast and do not compete with the major texture of the vest, and also not add bulk.

Update..wore the first vest with a silky grey long sleeve, snake print black waxed skinny jeans, and a killer pair of black Franco Sarto booties I just picked up. Added a funky necklace, and I was good to go! It was a great outfit and I received many compliments.

To be honest, I was unsure how this fuzzy vest would go over, but I loved it! In fact, it was the item in the outfit that received the most compliments! Thanks for all of your input.

The first vest looks killer - and I am not a fan of fur vests, I have to say. The description of how you styled it sound good! Denise, your fur vest looks are so cool!

The second one is all drama. Like Janet, it's something I would never be able to pull off, but I am DYING to see how you style it. I know that it's the kind of thing that I would not be able to stop looking at if someone else wore it!
