Thank you all for your boosting comments!
I am very happy indeed with this alteration, and at the height Angie had suggested: not too short.
There seems to be a consensus on outfit 5! And I suspect it has to do with the Ara sandals. I am having trouble adjusting to the larger heel, but really, seeing how everybody likes them, and how they can take an otherwise bland outfit to the next level, I think I will keep them. They may really be pants sandals, but really good ones.
Janet, I am curious: why will you stay away from the look? You have to at least give it a try, because I promise, they are not cut like the traditional Mom's jeans.
bj, Rizzo, LOL! I had to search it, because I didn't know the name, but that is exactly who I was thinking of when I put this outfit together! (I loved the movie as a teenager).
Sarah, I'd love to see your altered jeans! Now I'm starting to wonder if the solution to the perfect pair isn't plain and simple alterations...
Dab, thanks!
Firecracker, what a good idea. I will try it today. This head scarf really is a head band, but I have other scarves that could do the job. I would swap the polo for a white boho shirt, tucked. Will take pics. Thanks!
Scarlet, thank you. You encourage me to keep the Ara.
Carolbee, I encourage you to take them for alterations, to fit your present body. The cost was minimal, a few dollars more then hemming, but hemming was free. Me too, I was not too sure about the booties with this length, but thought I would give it a shot.
Goldenpig, agree, they are not *the* stereotyped Mom's jeans... but before alterations they appeared more like it, mainly because the waist came up so high, which seems to be a fringe trend trying to pierce these days, I notice. Now they look more like Audrey Hepburn cigarette pants.
