Moisturizers and oily skin

In another thread mayapple brought up the subject of starting to use an SPF moisturizer but with oily skin does not know what to use. I am 37 and still have oily skin. I have never used a moisturizer but always wear an SPF. I love Total Daily Protector SPF 15 from MD Forte. It runs about $14.00 a tube. It is not sticky, leaves my skin nice and matte and works great under makeup. I would like to know what everyone else with oilier skin uses for an SPF. Does anybody with oily skin use a moisturizer that does not make their skin more oily? I am always willing to try new products, but it's nice to hear what others like before I do. Oh and also, does anybody use an oil-absorber of any sort that they would recommend?

Thanks for the tip Shannon! I have a cheaper grocery store brand of Neutrogenas oil absorbing sheets and they work just as well, but I could probably go through a pack a day. I keep the MAC blot powder on hand because it lasts a lot longer than other powders so I use fewer sheets.

I use Olay's moisturize for oily skin (SPF 15) during the summer. For some reason my very oily skin seems to turn to very dry skin (except for my nose) during the winter, so I switch to the extra dry formula during the winter months. I've heard people rave about Clinique's moisturize, so I'd love to try it someday when I can afford something other than the cheep drugstore kind. I've also heard that you should only apply moisturizer to the dry spots on your face, but if you was SPF coverage, that doesn't work so well.

While I'm absolutely delighted to hear that you are using sun block on your face daily, it’s best to use a SPF that is higher than 15 on your face and hands. You are aiming to use at least a 30, especially if you are fair skinned. And while I’d love to recommend an inexpensive option for you, I do not know of one. I blogged about this a while ago and the entry is below. These products might feel too greasy for you though, but have a department store pop a few applications in a tester kit to try. Remember that you only get one chance to save your skin and prevention is better than cure.

The best products I know of for Oily Skin are in Philosophy's Acne Kit. Used together, the products (after a few months) stemmed my oily skin completely. The kit comes with a face wash that helps reduce oily skin and a moisturizer that also serves as a protectant and a primer. It does not have sunscreen, so I add sunscreen. Plus my foundation contains SPF 15. I have been highly impressed with philosophy's products. For my acne, it took several months to start seeing a difference, but it has been amazing on both reducing my acne and controlling my oily skin. I like Clarins SPF moisturizer, but philosophy also has one.
