Moisturising Sunscreen

OK, found out the hard way I need better sunscreen, and also one that moisturizes. Any recommendations? Now, I just have to contend with a scalp that will be peeling for the next while.

No great recommendations, just be sure your sunscreen isn't from last year (they lose their effectiveness), and use SPF 30 or greater. This year I got CVS brand sunscreen and was happy enough.

Try an aloe lotion while your sunburn is healing. . .?

I used Alba SPF 45 on my beach vacation, and it worked great.

Hope your burn heals quickly!

I really like Neutrogena sunscreen - the one for the face is especially nice and might be gentle enough for your scalp.

Honestly, what sunscreen is not moisturizing, possibly excessively so? I use la Roche Posay for the anti-UVA goo it contains. Maybe other brands now have the same thing. Sorry about your noggin aloe is great stuff.

La Roche-Posay for me too. I use Hydraphase UV spf 30 for everyday -- it's a moisturizer with sunblock added. If I'm really going to be out in the sun, I use straight-up sunblock -- either L'Oreal Ombrelle or La Roche-Posay . They both make good ones for the face. I find all sunscreens to leave a film on my face, however (and I've tried everything). The dermatologist said that this is because sunscreens are intended to sit on top your skin, so they are not actually that moisturizing on their own. Moisturizers are meant to sink into your skin and make it harder for water to evaporate from it. Hope that helps.

La Roche-Posay all over, besides face where Dermalogica SPF 30 rules (can be added to other moisturizers as well, but SPF will of course decrease when mixing)

Thanks, everyone for all your help and suggestions. I've been using aloe vera liberally and it's helping the sunburn immensely. Your gentle and polite reminders as to how moisturizers and sunscreens work gave me a well deserved Homer Simpson "D'oh!!" moment. So, before going out, I'll be applying my moisturizer topped off with a good spf 45 sunscreen and all should be well. My scalp isn't sickly white looking, either. I guess the last three years of super short hair allowed enough sunlight through to give my scalp the colour as my face and neck. I think I'll be keeping it smooth for the foreseeable future.
