Modern booties

I'm looking for a pair of brown booties. I normally like boots either flat (like riding boots) or with a slimmer heel. I was looking at the Sam Edelman ones in brown as I keep seeing a lot of this style heel but I'm not sure if it's trendy or here to stay. I'm hoping to settle on one pair of the ones below so I want them to be versatile. I do have brown and black knee high riding boots, black flat and heeled ankle boots, and brown suede mid-calf boots already. Thoughts on these styles?

That Frye Melissa short is pne of my all-time favs - very classic! But maybe that is not what you are looking for, since you used the term " modern"?
How and with what would you wear these?

I like the Frye and SE Petty. I'm not crazy about the stiletto heels on the other two. The Frye is definitely more of a rugged casual boot which might be a fun juxtaposition with your more classic style. I think the Petty is a gorgeous polished casual option. I don't think either style will date very quickly.

Ryce- Classic is exactly my style which I think is why I like the Frye's. I'm just not sure if that's dull? I would probably wear them either with jeans or with slimmer pants mostly as I don't own any bootcut or wide leg pants.

Kelly- Maybe, I need to stop reading articles about what to wear for dating over 40 as they always seem to show some kind of heel. The 1st two feel more like something I would wear everyday.
