Missing the "old" Ann

It is cool here already (high of 64F today), and as I brought out a 2 year old Ann Taylor top, I was reminded how lovely and flattering on me they are. There's a reason why she had a decent number of my tops as they were fashionable, usually well made, and flattering.

I was super disappointed with both the spring and summer offerings. Here's hoping the "old" Ann comes back this fall!

Can you share what you liked about the old Ann and what you dislike about the new Ann? I hadn't shopped there in years (not my lifestyle) but this summer purchased two dresses that I absolutely love.

Thistle, have you seen the new Talbot's catalogue? I thought of you when I looked through it. Ann never fit me well.

Thistle, I was not very taken with summer items either. I got this navy linen sweater because it is a good weight, drape and not see-through, and goes with a lot of bottoms, though only JFE for color and not a high neckline (though no cami required).
Even fall so far is not sending me yet. That's good though!

OTOH, apropos your "so much for waiting" I am liking a lot of sweaters in Garnet Hill but have not struck as their shipping is outrageous, it is more and more with higher order, and I'm not sure of what sizes--wishing it were Nordie's--and know that the quality is uneven at best.

I agree, Thistle. I've seen some things online that look OK, but not enough to want to do the order/return dance. And the local stores - yikes. For a change of pace, I've been finding a lot more at Loft and almost nothing at AT.

I picked up a Burgundy silk shirt from there but everything else in the store was blah. Same silhouettes and boring colors.

I've also been buying stuff at Loft but not AT the last year or two - I like the look better, and it's exactly the same fit. Quality is a little hit-or-miss, though - and sweaters are a lot of the misses.

Me too, Thistle. I used to buy about 80% of my work wardrobe from AT, now all my money is going to Nordstrom, LOFT and Banana Republic. I was in the actual store a couple weeks ago and did not even see anything I wanted to try on. It's just so dull to me - I used to like the non-suit jackets and skirts with interesting details. Last winter, I loved the casual pants they were offering in velvet, corduroy and denim (olive and toffee - yay) and picked up some sweaters but spring and summer was a big disappointment for me. However, I've had the same thing happen with BR in the past - a couple seasons of nothing great and then they were back again to my taste so you never know.
