Misplaced Taupe?

Went to Gap to return the blue sweater and saw this boyfriend sweater - it's cotton, oversized, and chunky but with some drape. And for some reason I was really attracted to this cool taupe shade. It's more of a grey than pink or yellow tone. It's certainly not my best color, but is it in wearable range? Those of you who rock taupe (or maybe this os toffee?) should try it out.

I like it on you. I would like it on me too, thank you very much. You know what's interesting though - the pop of red from your phone case makes me think red could be a great accent colour here somewhere -like in a scarf, or something, I'm not totally sure what I'm talking about but something about that red gave it a punch that looks great - does that make sense?

Wow, I really, really like that on you. That looks like "greige" to me. That is one of my favorite neutrals. This, to me, epitomizes what Angie always says. That anyone can wear almost any color. You just have to have the right undertones, the right saturation and so on. When I read "taupe", I really thought I wasn't going to like it. Then when I saw the pic, I felt like the guy in the Bose commercial with his hair blowing back. WHOAAAAAA ! : )

This is a choice colour for your colouring. Maybe your eye needs to adapt, but I see it as a great colour for brunettes. It is so versatile too, mixing well with almost every colour. Have no doubts....you've made a good selection here.

Speaking of taupe - I think I found some comfort booties in that color and on a great sale. Fingers crossed.They're showing the gray color here but taupe for me.

This sweater did come home with me and I'm going to try it out with some outfits. I know how to wear the style but not the color!

Kelly, "mushroom" is not a color I ever expected I could wear. I think it's a cool tone with hints of grey, is that right?

Suz, this is a S on me - my typical Gap size. It's TTS considering it's meant to be oversized. I'm not sure sizing up would make it more of a tunic because it will swamp you. But your size in tall might. XST? I'm also not sure it goes with the pants. I'm hoping it may broaden my options in pant colors a little, though!

I collected this from online. I NEVER say this, but I actually honestly think this looks better on me than the model. The photo makes it look schlumpy.

Oh, and it's on sale now! Grrrrr. $35 with sale and discount code! I'm returning this to the store and ordering online, unless they will price match.

Una, thank you! Yes, I have it in my shopping cart. I was going to order a S or XS in Tall for the tunic look. Maybe XST. This is super helpful.

And yes, this is taupe. A mushroom tone. Cool, greyed out brown, or brownish grey. Sometimes taupe has a hint of purple/ mauve in it, even.

Some ideas for pairing: It works well with almost all denim blues, ink, navy. Looks good with hot pink, fuchsia, many plums. FAB with black and often good with charcoal. Stunning with white, but I know you won't go there.

I am always searching for this color in lipsticks - there was a Rihanna/MAC one that came out and I snagged what must have been the last one in the country. It's a great cool neutral almost nude on me, and I can't find anything similar anywhere. I think that's what drew me to this sweater!

Thanks for the color tips - I will be turning to you for help! Oh, and I can do white on the bottom. Worth a try - I have white BFs and skinnies.

Nice! I may or may not be popping into the local Gap. I'd seen something else I wanted to try but might have a look at this. I have a sugar-eye for this colour...for better or worse. I also tend to throw on maroon/red/eggplant infinity scarves over tops of this colour if I'm feeling pale (or cold )

Online it is on sale in store and online...Was that not the case for you?...Looking at the taupe and perhaps the navy...Did you see the navy?...and it is way oversized...

I saw the navy but I fear the dog hair situation that happened with my Gap navy turtleneck sweater that was an instant mess. This feels much more cottony (although it has poly and wool too). It is oversized but the shoulder fit keeps it from looking too much so!

It's not on sale in my store so I just returned it and ordered it online.
