Minimizing

I found a fabulous MOG dress and it fits everywhere besides bra area...the reviews said it ran small there and it does. I have 3.5 months till the wedding so think between being very good about diet and exercise and the ability to let it out a bit..I think it will be fine...but ...just in case...any suggestions for firm control minimizers in camisoles/bras/one piece Spanx like items that would include the bra area as well as thigh area. If I go with a minimizing bra or camisole/tank I could then also use the one piece with it. I want to have some options in place in case they are needed. Thanks in advance.

I'm all about minimizing (not just the size of my wardrobe, wink wink) but ...this dress sounds like a recipe for pressure and stress. Which could be a set-up for a lot less fun at the wedding.

Any way you can keep looking for a dress that won't require extreme shapewear?

I'm with minimalist. I have never been happy with a purchase that had this kind of fit issue, even after weight loss and with shapewear. And I have big boobs and big hips so I have to try a TON of dresses to find a good fit, so I sympathize. But I would really think twice about committing to a dress that is too snug in any way.

The dress fits in the hips and the arms and shoulders...just a tad tight in the bust area which I was prepared for based on the reviews. I am prob. a bit older than many of you on the forum and my 2nd son's wedding; my experience has been finding a pretty and classy Mother of the Bride or Groom dress is a tough search and I am in love with this dress. As I said it can be let out and I should be ok but need a back up just in case..reason I am asking about minimizers.

I wish I had a specific brand suggestion for you, I'm looking for similar garments myself. Sounds like you need just "that little something extra" right? Just a little bit of compression in the bustage area to make it work.

I was recently in Macy's and noticed that there seem to be alot of trimming/skimming/slimming garments on the market now. Spanx, Commando, Maidenform come to mind. Maybe the best bet is to take the dress with you ( if not too much to carry) and just commit to an hour of try-ons. A more full service shop like Nordies or a good lingerie shop, if you have access, might have sales people who can sort out the options.

njw, it sounds like a straightforward minimizer bra might be what you need. This blog post may be helpful:

chest. That means a good minimizer bra needs to have shallow cups with less projection. It usually needs to be a full-coverage cut that goes high up the chest. It also typically needs to have wide wires."

If the fit of the dress really is close, just a little snug, a minimizer might be all you need. Hopefully you wouldn't need more specialized shapewear than that, unless you want it. I agree with binkle, just take the dress to a good department store or lingerie shop, and try on all that you can find. I think it'll be clear if it will work or not. Good luck!
