I just saw this when texstyle linked to it in the thread on Polished. Missed it somehow the first go- round.

Before seeing it , I'd gone out today on errands wearing some items I was trying to re- evaluate in wardrobe. Happened to be a black T with a slightly feminie style of lace upper and sleeves, and a specific black belt ( being test- driven), with slim BF jeans and black perforated slipper flats .
I rather liked the look of black and denim for me and wondered why I didn't do that more often. Possibly it's the summer vibe of the rolled Jeans so I wear more colorful tops usually. Also had been veering away from black tops of my younger days, but with short sleeves and a slightly wider neckline and lace parts, , it's lightened up. I added a very lightweight gray linen cardigan to withstand air- conditioning.

The blog person is trim and slim in skinnies while my BF. jeans, even in the slim version, don't on their own provide such a polished look, but the neutral black items balanced that more than other colors somehow.
Anyway, seeing this streetstyle photo really hit home and I liked how Angie analyzed it, as I could see something clicking, with the black neutral items with the mid- wash denim as offering a path to one of my " aspirational" outfit types while working with the fit of the jeans, which is better for me ( and so comfortable!) than most of the skinnier styles but can skew less polished. ( not as much an issue with darkwash denim ).

Kind of a win for Outfit Creation/ outfit lab!
