MINI OVERHAUL 3: Dotty dress x2

I have two dresses in which I hesitate to let go, but are not sure if they do me justice. Do they work? Other styling required?

DRESS 1 (Laziness got me, so don't mind my bare legs and feet.):
Is a bit large and the fabric is also quite thin cotton. I like the buttons, the dots and the details around neck, cuffs etc. It says autumn/winter to me, so no summer wear even if the fabric is light and breezy. Is it too baggy?

#1-4 Front / side / back / close-up
#5 + thick grey wool cardi
#6 + thin grey wool cardi
#7 + long cashmere cardi
#8-9 + blue shimmering blazer + scarf

DRESS 2 (never mind the cami, i was doing this in between other stuff going on):
Second hand + altered. I think of it as a summerdress and like the combo of dots and the detail on the shoulders, though havn't had the opportunity to wear it during summertime yet (got it this autumn/winter). But is this one too large or boxy or "something" around the bust / arm area(#11)?

#10-11 Front / close-up
#12 + blue long sleeve jumper, without belt
#13 + cream crisp silk blouse (too chunky??) + white belt

Sorry to say but I don't think either of them is really doing you justice. The first one does seem kind of droopy and the trim is more distraction than enhancement. The second one does seem kind of large on top. Can you take it in slightly? If so I think it would work as an easy casual look for the hot weather (I like the white belt with it best). Or, check the other posts from today - Deborah is planning to turn her polka dot dress into a skirt - that might be an option for you too, then you could wear it with a simple tee shirt and sandals.

Hmm both of these have me a little stumped. I think the top of the first one isn't quite fitting right, but I'm not sure what it is. It looks like a transitional dress, so the stylings with lighter toppers appeal to me more with this one (#6-9). The second one either needs the top taken in or to be blousoned so it looks more purposefully poofy (if that makes sense). That dress looks best in summery styling to me, so no hose.

Agree with Aida about altering the top of #2 slightly. I think #1 could be great as a layering garment in cooler weather --- I like the trim a lot!

I think you might be able to get that dotty dress altered to look more retro like the one you linked. It looks to me like you just need to have the bodice tailored to be fitted close to you, instead of loose how it is now. I rather like the larger polka dot pattern of your dress for you, the one you linked seems a little too precious from what I've seen of your style

I have to think about the second dress and how to make it work / if I can make it work. Maybe there is something not fitting with the neck, and that's harder to alter than making the bodice more fitted - or turning it into a skirt.

I just remembered that I bought the first dress when pregnant, so I was filling it out in another way than now. I said goodbye to it earlier today
