Adelfa, indeed---I wish I could layer, but the heat and humidity here are quite the deterrent.
Lantana, for many Indian communities as well as I think many vegetarians/vegans worldwide, the conventional silks are taboo because the silkworms have to be killed to harvest the silks. Although in India it is possible to get 'alternative silks' (ahimsa or non-violence silk they are called, made up of slubbier, shorter and fluffier threads from cocoons harvested after the silk moth has exited) as well as wild silks.
Vildy, I actually have had several more flared kameezes made out of fabric cut on the bias, typically out of a saree length. Not terribly uncommon here though not exactly the norm either. And my bias-cut handloom skirts have been lifesavers through pregnancy.
Beth Ann, knits are easily found. Hi-tech (quick drying) not so much. Mostly cottons in mostly T-shirts, some polyesters and viscoses from international brands. Styles more limited than in the US for sure. But not, as Angie would say, a train smash. Nursing wear hard to find. What there is tends to very expensive or super frumpy and bothersome with ties and strings and whatnot. Front-open bras used to be common but have unaccountably gone out of fashion since my girlhood! I got a decent deal on some Motherhood Maternity and Cantaloop bras though---and they aren't as bad as the typical moulded cups with unwieldy clips.
