? midi, maxi

always trying

Are you seeing a return of maxis, or anyone wearing midis in your area? Do you wear them, or are planning to in the spring?

I am doubting they will catch on around here. Have not even seen wide legs around here in any significant numbers. I am thinking older women around here will not give up their tunics with tights or skinny leg pants-shorter tighter legs in summer. Younger ones mostly skinnies and when it gets warmer shorts.

I think midis are supposed to be in this year but whether that means most people will wear them or not ,time will tell.I have bought a Boden midi in the clearance section and shall be wearing it when the weather warms up.

I don't wear much for skirts, but if I do, I choose a maxi. Mostly because I can still chase little kids in it without losing my dignity!

I love midis and have never had any intentions to stop wearing them. More and more of my friends (in all age groups) wear them too. Maxis are mainly worn in summer (and mostly by young women) or as party wear.

I love midi length; I don't love maxis for myself or my older daughter, as both of us are on the petite side. My youngest daughter--18--loves maxis, and her friends wear floral maxis with booties all the time. It appears to me they are super trendy with the younger girls right now. In my opinion, they look great on the long-legged girls, but the shorter ones look like they are swimming.

I can't say I am seeing either right now. But it is still early in our shopping season, they might start to appear.

Sadly, I am also not seeing wide-legged pants either. I did think they would catch on because they are ideal for our climate. I'll watch for them again in spring.

I haven't seen anyone wearing midis or maxis in the Atlanta area yet this year, but we had an unusually cold winter for this area, and on the less-cold days, it's been raining with wind gusts. Nobody here seems to want to wear a skirt when the wind is blowing the rain at an angle, and grabbing your skirt!

Apart from those who wear them for religious reasons, I haven’t noticed midi or maxi skirts in non-super-trendy areas. People tend to wear dark denim, and sneakers/boots.

They seem to be perennially popular here in summer. Mostly with the younger women (GAP knit long skirts with a tank and denim jacket uniform). Hey, I'd be all over it if I were thin and young too But for career -wear? No. Don't ever see it - too much association with home-schooling and religious wear here where we have a large rural Mennonite population .

I wear what is often called midi, but not maxi skirts. I like my skirts and dresses to hit on the lower part of the kneecap, but will settle for anywhere on the knee. Longer can feel frumpy if not wearing just the right shoes (probably heels on my 5'3" height) Shorter (above the knee) looks silly on a woman my age and blocky on my body. It really does not matter to me what others are wearing. I see quite a few maxi skirts, mostly on young mothers.

Exactly what Lisa posted. Maxis with a jean jacket! Midis not so much on people - yet. Believe it or not, still seeing a lot of skater skirts on the younger set!

I bought two midi skirts last summer and wore them all the time on hot days with sandals and tees. I like XCVI, the ones with lesser ruching. Also bought two just-below-the-knee linen culottes or gauchos from NYDJ on sale and wore them as well. I never saw anyone else wearing either, but I am waiting, hoping I am a trendsetter or just mistaken for a European :). Bought a halter midi dress for this summer/resort and plan to wear a jeans jacket over it. Skinny denim, I find, is too warm for the summer months. Would love to find light weight cotton “denim” in light colors like blush or off-white for summer crops.
