Michael Kors tops/dress from the YLF store: Should I keep them?

Okay, I'm back with round 2 of "stuff I'm not sure whether I should keep." A lot of the Michael Kors items from the YLF store (Zappos) have ended up on 6 PM at lower prices lately, and I decided to try out three items I'd had my eye on. Please let me know your thoughts. (I'll weigh in later.)

Please excuse the hair - I'm overdue for a dye and a cut, and in the meantime I'm pulling it back so it doesn't drive me nuts.

Paisley cascade top - yay yay yay! Looks really wonderful on you!

Striped top - Another winner! You had me dying with the sailor lookout poses!

Dress - ya know, I don't dislike this on you exactly. But I don't like it as much as the top/pant combos. I'm not sure why. The cut is flattering, but I'm not as crazy about the green/black pattern and I think I would like it a little better if it were just a teeny tiny bit shorter.

love the 2 tops on you, but I'm not loving the dress. It seems like it's too high cut or something.

Paisley top-KEEP! Looks great on you!

Striped top-KEEP! I agree with Jenny, also looks great and those last poses, too funny!

Dress-I am also on the fence, it's OK, but not a WOW piece to me. Maybe it's the length, the print, I feel like it's swallowing you up, I vote return.

BTW, those yellow shoes looked great with every outfit!

Disclaimer: I own the dress (in grey) and love wearing it - BUT really tried not to let that influence my judgment here.

Don't care for the paisley top on you.

Love the striped top on you.

Love the dress on you. I think it fits great and looks flattering to your figure.

I'm on team dress! I like the frock best- hands down. KILLER with the Fidji shoes and swapped out belt. I vote keep with another capital K :0)

The paisley top is gorgeous! I vote another keep.

I like the striped top too, but not as much as the paisley top. If anything had to go - it would be the striped top. But I do like the striped top!

I like everything too but I agree with Angie, that if one thing had to go it would be the striped top. It seems stripes are everywhere so if you returned that one you could always find a replacement. The other two are very unique and very flattering on you!

How interesting that the opinions are so divided! I'm glad that for the most part the feedback is good, though. Here are my thoughts:

The paisley top I loved immediately. I adore the draped and the ruched sleeves. It's also fun to have something slightly less fitted since it's a somewhat loose shirt. The hem is a bit banded, but as you can see from the pictures, it's not really sacrificing the waistline - my hips and bust just don't allow my waist to hide in this top.

The dress was something that I wasn't sure about when I first got it, but I like it much better with the patent belt. The color and pattern are definitely different for me. I do like the shape, and the length is actually just slightly above the knee, so would be good for work. (It looks longer because my tripod was angled down from head level since my patio is pretty small.)
Angie, can you elaborate a bit more about what makes it killer for me specifically? I'm curious given that some commenters didn't like it, and some liked it a lot. I like it, but want to make sure that it's absolutely a keeper since the sale price is kind of high for me.

The striped top is fun, and you can tell by the pictures that wearing it put me in a fun and wacky mood, but looking at the pictures now I wonder whether the neckline (minus the off-center V) is too high and makes my chest look huge. I liked it on, but maybe I should trust the cameras more than the mirrors. Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

The bottom line is that I can afford to keep all 3 pieces, but I don't want to introduce items into my wardrobe that could become orphans later - I'm aiming for fabulous-to-killer additions only.

Taylor, yes, this is the patio at my new place. (The post-flood apartment repairs are *finally* done and the place looks great again! Woohoo!)

I think you look great in all of these and first reaction was keep all! Wasn't wild about the dress initially, but when Angie said 'Killer' I went back and this time looked at the later pics with your own belt (I'd only looked at the earlier ones) and yes suddenly that's really exciting. First top is a real wow and I love your jacket. Striped top I thought looked good but again reading Angie's 'uncertain' I went back and looked again. Still think it looks fun - how often would you pull it out of the closet?

Thanks for chiming in, Thunalata. I'm not sure how often the striped top would come out, which is one of the issues I'm trying to consider. This weekend I'll wear it around the house with clothes I'd probably wear it with (jeans/walking shorts or denim skirts) and see if my feelings change.

I'm a big fan of paisley so I vote keep on top one and also keep on top 2 because it really shows off your little waist. But if you have to choose I vote for the paisley.

I didn't like the dress until I got to the photos with the belts and then I really loved it, it is such an interesting pattern, I could see it working for lots of different occasions.

Your new place looks very pretty.

You look sensational in 50's body hugging dress styles - like Joanie! Hope you watch Madmen. When you swapped out the belt and added the spunk of the Fidjis - perfection was born. The feminine drape of the dress with the harder edge of the shoes and the belt are as happy as clams together. On top of it all - the dress is kelly green - your signature colour :0)

I love them all, and I love the shoes! I've seen that striped MK top in the store. Now that I've seen it on someone, maybe I'll try it on if I see it on my next trip to Macy's.

The paisley top is nice. The striped top is OK, not fabulous. I didn't like the dress until I saw the pic with the patent belt. So now I say KEEP. : )

I was not a fan of that paisley top, but boy oh boy, I love it on you !! The yellow shoes are fabulous with it. I never would have guessed it in a million years.....

I may have to get the icon top - LOVE !

I like the dress....but there is something about it that I am not completely on board with and I can't put my finger on it. Hmmmmm - no help on that one sorry !
