I am suddenly drawn to Michael Kors' design, which I always knew was elegant, yet seemed deemed for women unlike me--the Guess set, the Bebe set. Large sunglasses, sumptuous overcoats, and heeled boots, even in icy snow.
I am drawn to him right now even more than Calvin Klein, or the perennially impressive Ralph Lauren. I don't know if it's just me, but he seems somehow "overlooked" among American sportswear. His purses are reasonably priced, colorful and tasteful, and yet somehow don't command nearly as much attention as Coach.
I watched the recent runway to see what drew me. The clothing is confident, not fussy, yet still special. Perhaps a little Italian flavor, like a sleek sports car. I like that there is still a deep connection to classic style--burgundy shows up in silk dresses and wool overcoats, but not in something crazy, like macrame. Camel is almost presented as a bright rather than a neutral. I mean, if it's a power color, why not wear it head to toe?
