I've had a soft spot for these boots since the first time Angie posted about them.

Every time I see the pics in the ylf store or on my zappos wishlist I am enamoured by them all over again. I'm conflicted about whether I am crazy for even considering them for 2 reasons:

1) They are heeled. Small heels, but heels nevertheless. I'm a flats girl through & through.
2) Colour. Although I know the black would be more flattering from a leg lengthening perspective, and would fit into my wardrobe colour palette, the brown and even the tan capture my eye more. Perhaps its the distressing.

Who else has these boots? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them and see your pics in action too!!!

I do not own these boots but I have tried them on. The heels have the look and feel of flats to me. I don't know how to explain it, but they're not feminine heels. They remind me more of the kind of heels you would wear on a pair of equestrian boots to keep your feet from slipping through the stirrups...even though they are not equestrian in style. I really didn't even feel them.

Can't say what color would be best, but I wouldn't be overly loyal to the bookending thing. I think brown would still bookend effectively. It's quite dark. But bookending is just a loose guide and not something absolute like PPL.

One thing to note is that they do gape quite a bit around the ankles--which I don't mind at all and I think it's part of the style, but I know some people don't like the look. Other than that all I can say is that they are TTS and pretty comfy.

One of the reviews mentions that the distressing on the brown pair is black so it may not be a problem. I say give it a try.

I don't own them, but I have seen them in person. If you went with the tan, you could wear them bare legged!

I own other MIA shoes, not these, but they are all good quality and fit well. Go for it!

You are all a bunch of enablers!!! Thanks for the welcome back, I have been around, just more in stalker mode thanks to general life busyness, some good, some bad. Still undecided about these boots. I would hate to try them and be bothered by the gape. Also worry that the black doesn't look distressed/rough enough. Maybe some hard wear would fix that. And still no-one has posted pics????

Oh they are beautiful and the black boots scream Tam! They probably will wear in quite well and develop a distressed look after a while.

Tam, if you go to Zappos you can see a video of someone modeling them to get an idea of what the gaping is like. Gaping is part of the style with this kind of boot, though. It isn't meant to be fitted. If you prefer a sleeker look, I might look into a laceup combat boot style instead.

And Dawn is right. They will self-distress over time. Much more authentic

Maya thanks for pointing out the video feature - I would never have noticed it otherwise. Hmm they are *very* gapey aren't they. 13 inches is nearly my calf circumference. Not sure whether I'd want that much gape after all! Such a conundrum!
